Or it's possible that he was lying in order to push Deathlok harder.
There is a valid reason for the trainer to lie. There is no valid reason for Jimmy to lie.

Yes there is. To make Supergirl feel better about her strength. He was already praising her earlier for being "a lot" faster than Superman.

Also there's reason to believe Jimmy was misinformed. There's no reason to believe the Shield agent was.

The fact that we don't know how Jimmy knows leaves the possibility of him being misinformed. And as already stated, he had the hots for SG already claiming she's "a lot" faster than SM.

You are treating the story as actual events and confusing them with writer's intentions.
The writer clearly wasn't trying to convey that Jimmy was misinformed. Thus he wasn't.

The trainer had a reason to lie. It's extremely possible that the writer was portraying him to lie because we all know that Cap can't even push a bulldozer with any decent speed (if at all).

With that said, neither feat is usable in a forum fight due to the extreme outlier rule we all agreed upon.

So what's the purpose of this debate?

That wasn't hinted at in the slightest. All we know in terms of "writer's intention" is Jimmy saying it's too heavy for a human to hold.

There's no evidence anywhere that the "million" tons was any kind of accurate information Jimmy had, given we have no idea where Jimmy pulled that number from.

The feat is unusable regardless. So what is the debate really about?
