Honestly, felt this film was just average; not really anything you hadn't seen before. Much as I like Dwayne Johnson and his charisma too, would've preferred a Black Adam with the hair and pointy ears the more I thought about it after, but I guess they didn't want to CG the Rock for that stuff. The 90's skateboard kid I was more so laughing at how he was carrying the plot along and how tropeish he was than I was annoyed with him, but can see how he was a painful distraction for others.
Also, I thought Hawkman's nth metal mace disrupted magic, or is that only for certain continuities? With that in mind though, would've thought he'd be able to break through Fate's magic wall with ease during the last act. Regardless, I may have been expecting a bit much from Fate as a longtime fan of Pierce Brosnan, but I too was let down by him here.
Well this wasn't as good as the first trailer looked but wasn't as bad as most of the DC films have been.
Good
Hawkman. His total commitment to not giving up despite getting his ass beaten throughout the entire film. He was a good character.
Dr Fate. Also a decent performance and character.
Mostly solid action but the stop/start stuff really wore thin after a while.
Liked the sprinklings of connecting it to the wider franchise through Djimon Honsou's character and Amanda Waller. It was small enough of a reference without the usual tactic of bludgeoning the audience with exposition to ensure they know its part of the Justice League universe.
Obviously glad to see Supes (my mate had zero clue he was going to be in it and his reaction was great)
Bad.
A fairly sizeable chunk of dialogue was either cheesy or cringey
The deadpan humour did not land well
The attempt to make Atom Smasher's mask, voice and personality a non R-rated Deadpool was crap
Atom Smasher and Cyclone were mostly pointless.
They did zero fleshing out the the supposed long and great friendship between Dr Fate and Hawkman so their "goodbye" scene had no emotional impact behind it.
What is with DC's constant reliance on horrendously bad CGI big punchy, flying super strong bad guys. None of them have worked. Incubus was crap. Ares was crap. Doomsday was crap and Steppenwolf was crap and Sabbac was equally as crap
Overall I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Adam is a very complex character.Rock is just a steroid junkie with a micropenis. He's the last person that should play the character.

Warner should have called Whirly and see if he was available.

Some actors can't do voices, so could be that. eg Kevin Costner can't do voices well, not even a different American one. Why he had an American accent while playing Robin Hood.
Honestly some of the ****ing complaints in this thread. Soooo much the butthurt. 😆
Yeah, would not necessarily call Dwayne a fake fan just off an accent he may have not had the range for. His Black Adam still felt enough like Black Adam apart from that and some appearance details, though the film could have played upon the antihero side of him more. Felt like they didnt really know how to write an antihero, and so they just made the JSA look dumb by whining about him killing, but unlike them, Adam was actually getting shit done for Kahndaq by vanquishing foreign military oppressors and freeing his people.
Waller seeing Adam as such a threat made little sense too as it was. If her country was held captive like that, she wouldve done something about it too, but since Kahndaq is not America, screw that I guess.

I did find the issue over Black Adam killing people amusing meanwhile the Justice League and Suicide Squad have incalculable deaths between them.
Yeah I was never expecting the Rock to do an accent. Anyone who did is over estimating his acting chops.
Still lazy not giving him the pointy ears.

I thought it was different enough.
Just comparing it to Shazam, thats 2 very different characters and back stories for characters who have the same power.

Well for starters war and politics is full of double standards like that. Second BA would be our equivalent of having Nukes. We dont just let anyone have nukes no matter what their reasons. But we are allowed them because…. Well reasons…
