I think it shows how difficult it would be to replace Gunn. It would have been obvious that a different director was in charge and it would probably hurt the film's success. Because if you remember Disney was adament that they wouldn't rehire him.

Great news. I hope he returns to Guardians 1 form, part 2 was good but not Guardians 1 great.

There's a part of me that wonders if Disney always was planning to bring him back, but were waiting for the drama to blow over.

Very possible, wouldn't surprise me if when they fired Gunn, Feige said something like "this will be our official stance for now; we'll revisit and see where the climate is a year or so from now."

Yeah. The only thing that gives me doubts about it is Batista's outburst, though then again, him helping to sell it all would be just the kind of thing that a pro-wrestler would do.
