While we don't know anything for certain, what his brother said about him doesn't seem to indicate that he had been planning this for over 30 years...

I never meant to suggest it had been planned for 30 years. He could be a gun nut and have purchased it a long time ago, and decided to use it for this crime. He more than likely purchased it after it was made illegal though.

Fair enough.

There are literally youtube videos on how to disable those shopping cart devices. Removing a parole bracelet is on a different level though.

Yeah. Valid if I was arguing to just take a trolley jammer and stick it on a gun. Given that I'm just using those as examples of what can be done with relatively little extra cost then I'm sure they can find something a bit more secure for guns.

Given they can brick a stolen phone or demobilise a car engine remotely once reported then I'm sure they can do the same for guns once outside certain validated areas.

I have no idea. There are a few possibilities. He could have perhaps bought it when it was still legal, which I think was until 1985-1986. Most likely though he got it illegally, though I understand he had legal gun purchases as well.

I have also seen people in the media talking about silencers and stuff in regards to this weapon. People need to know that silencers are not like in the movies, they will not allow some stealth gunshot, it is mostly used for protection(a gun is loud and can damage your ears, a silencer will reduce it to a slightly more tolerable level).

Yeah, not even half the decibels is "slightly" reduced 😮

12 pages, wew lad, blew way past that 4 page threshold

Shooter was a video high stakes poker player, wonder if we will find out he lost all his money and decided to take it out on everyone else.

We do know his father was a psychopath as he was on the FBI most wanted list as a serial bank robber.

That's what I was telling my mom was the likeliest scenario.

Who knows, but having 10 rifles in your hotel room really shows this was premeditated, not someone who lost all one day and said **** it on a whim

He had 20 weapons. He converted his rifles to fully automatic which is highly illegal, as is mass murder.

Private pilot?

He had his private pilots license. Not a commercial pilot license.

Hmmmm.

Brother: Paraphrasing "He had no political affiliation. Ive known him for 57 years and he has no criminal record, he didn't even have parking tickets he has no affiliation. We never knew our father, he was in jail. He sent his mother cookies."

Sounds like he lost all his money. Im betting this is what happened.

Yeah but that's the thing, he had those guns prepped beforehand.

You can't lose all your money and prep after?

Again. someone doesn't bring 20-whatever rifles to a hotel room on a whim. Guess it's possible, just not likely. IMO, this was planned out long ago, along with offing himself before being caught.

This does seem planned. One gun could be spur of the moment, but this guy had an arsenal it seems.
