Age matters for your physical prime but the force can amp your stats. So I agree Maul isn't physically as impressive when he gets older but his body is by far and away better in his youth. But when you actively use the force you can make up the difference. Dooku was always old and he was clearly less powerful in the force and less skilled with a lightsaber than Anakin in rots.

Well the theatre parking lot was full for noon. Something tells me the losers stamping their feet the loudest has no bearing on the general audience. Same nonsense with Into Darkness. They gave the loser fanboys what they wanted with Beyond. It made less money and was an inferior movie.
