Part of me hopes Avatar 2 does better just to spite them.

Though I think they seriously do shit on people who paid to see the movie and now to pay to see it again if they wanna see this new footage. This should have either been included in the original or been saved for the blu ray extra features.

End of the day its up to audiences if they want to go back to the cinema to watch the end credit scenes or just wait like a month to own it on digital or blu-Ray for the same price.

If it beats Avatar thats fair, but if it doesnt then it doesnt. We dont need excuses for why it didnt.

Wait, that wasn't in the movie that was a quote from me while watching it. My bad.

I do remember the use of the word "unobtanium" a lot.

It was massive for that year though. Like Inhuman pointed out, it was making bank for whole damn year.

Due to an extended release, re-release and - most importantly - re-introducing audience to the whole idea of 3D movies.

Jackson hoped to achieve something similar with his higher FPS Hobbit. It failed, though.

Thinking about it...wasn't a decent portion of its popularity due to the fact it was using new film techniques at the time? Doing new things with 3D, etc.

They won't have that advantage now.

I'm not trying to belittle Cameron or anything. But Avatar's BO records don't make it a masterpiece. Never worked that way, never will.

Its just a record. Either Endgame takes the record or it doesnt.

That said its not like Endgame is even the best comic book movie of all time, let alone best movie. So not sure it deserves it anymore than Avatar does.

But yes, even though I think he's a great filmmaker, I also think Cameron is a ****. I'm legit excited for what he might do with the second one though.

Considering he had the script for the first film laying around since 1995, Could'eve done with a rewrite in places

here's hoping the sequel's are good with them being more fresh.

Oh, the script was nothing special at all, and I doubt the second one will be either. That's not the attraction of it, though. At least not to me.

Avatar still has fans?

Its a title, so no excuses will cut it. If Avatar loses the title then it loses it. If Endgame doesnt get it, then it doesnt. No amount of excuses will suddenly give them the title.

Also adjusted for inflation Gone with the Wind still has the title. But adjusting for inflation comes with multiple issues especially for worldwide numbers.
