The main interest is really just seeing the actor have fun with the performance. Mainly Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger to this point.

Phoenix is a great actor, too, so hopefully that element will be intact.

Jack Nicholson didn’t play Joker, he played Jack Nicholson with some make up on

Jack Nicholson played a horrid Joker. Heath was the only one to capture the spirit of the character. Phoenix will fail as well.

This movie will fall flat.

Phoenix already looks great. Heath great, and could very well surpass him.

Doubt that. Heaths didnt require a back story.

I'm talking about overall performance. They're is already Oscar talk about his role.

Oscar talk...

Golgo, wtf they're paying you to be saying this...

Yeah, that’s all hype.

Dude, it's Phoenix. I wouldn't be surprised at all. He's easily top 3 actors we have. Other than Daniel Day Lewis (who's retired), I don't see a better actor.

Plus, it's released during Oscar season...

I love Joaquin Phoenix as an actor, but I didn't see anything in that trailer that comes close to beating Ledger as the best live action Joker.

We'll see when the movie actually comes out, but I thought everything was on point. Trailer has been trending for quite sometime, so it's a home run. This movie will be pretty big for an October release.

👆 but to be fair what do you expect, it’s Golgo who’s a phucking idiot.

Ledgers had everyone excited from the first trailer. Just dont see it with this one personally. Seems too artsy.

Besides Heath already did win an Oscar for his Joker performance.

Joker has huge hype right now. It has major YouTube viewings and one of the most well liked for a trailer. It was also trending for 10 hours straight, and still in YouTubes top 5. That's a good point you brought up artsy, because a lot of people find that refreshing that its not just another comic flick.

John campea on his show also pointed out that he could be nominated.

Also mentioned on collider that it could receive multiple rewards. YouTube video

Trending: Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for the ‘Joker’ trailer alone.

I think people who treat this as a comic book film will be seriously disappointed.

People on the other hand who like Scorsese thrillers will enjoy it more.

😂 Phoenix deserves a Oscar for the trailer alone, how stupid and pathetic are some people.

Scorsese's fingerprints are still on this, even though hes not a producer anymore. I love the look of the film because of that.

The film might be really good, but as an out of continuity movie it doesn't feel necessary. The DCEU seems caught at cross purposes, with the massive success & popular appeal of Wonder Woman & Aquaman (and maybe Shazam! as well) preventing them from scorching the earth of the Snyderverse completely.

Like Logan in 2017, it seems the film is being done just to be done, to adapt a famous story (this time, a loose adaption of The Killing Joke), narrative continuity be damned.

lol

I've heard the phrase "McDonald's Art House" thrown around.

Also from the trailer this joker seems to be the equivalent of a loser teen that was bullied to the point that they became a school shooter.

They're basically using part of the killing joke, Eh? People thought the same with Heath, and look what happened.
