Whole thing is in a spoiler.
Spoiler:
Just an excellent movie. All around. 9/10. For those of you who don't know me, I don't give anything higher than a 9/10 because I believe no perfect movie exists. There are always problems and mistakes.Overall ratings:
Excellent acting.
Great cinematography.
Okay music (it is just there, most of the time, and it doesn't distract from the scenes).
Excellent color use.
Excellent editing. It would get supreme editing but it falls apart about 4 or 5 times missing the top-notch editing that very few movies ever get.
Take on the character
I thoroughly enjoyed the first glimpse we have of Joker's neurological/sanity disorder when he's talking to his case work from the Health Department. He's clearly crying, laughing, and angry. All at once. I mean, holy shit, Joaquin did a damn good job of completely drawing you into to his character and immediately getting the uncomfortable sense that something is terribly wrong with him. That's acting and directing done correctly. Also, the view of his beaten back in the clown-locker room (lol, WTF?) is unsettling. It clearly looks deformed. It is not right. It was the angle and his pose. They did it on purpose. And it worked well. You get a better feeling that this person is a bit inhuman. Has the general form of a human. But not quite.
His character was humanized perhaps a tad too much. It takes away from the mystique of a truly deranged character like The Joker. However, it works well in this film. It was a "real" take on The Joker. Less comic book. More real-world.
There are minor moments of Joker-esque humor such as him scribbling out:
"Never
Forgot To
Smile"After he gets fired and leaves. Also, his random laughter during the stand-up skit (when he was taking notes in the audience) was hilarious. There are other times throughout the film I found myself the only one laughing out loud which gets awkward. It's unintentionally funny at times. Some of you may have that experience if your humor is a bit dark.
The climax-wrap-up in Murray's studio was a bit...weird. It was not executed as well as it could have been. But I think it was like that on purpose to build up to seeing Murray's brains being blown out in front of a live audience and a live broadcast.
Conclusion:
A must watch for any movie goer or enthusiast. It is sure to be enjoyable from a pure movie-enthusiast's experience. If you like any movies, watch it. It is a hit and an instant classic. It will be remembered for years.
If you're on the fence about watching it, watch it just for the sake of watching a good film.

Yeah definitely not the best adaptation of the Joker. But I still appreciated it as an artistic character piece based on the iconic villain.Plus... damn it was just an insane film.
Yes, this is a great way to sum it up. 👆
