Spoiler:Seemed like a waste.
Was the fact that they had a cool Ben redemtion scene with Han and Leia then the kill him off at the end. Also:
2)
Spoiler:
Did we ever find out what secret Finn had to tell Rey?
1. Yep total waste. Just made his story
Spoiler:
almost the exact same as Vaders. If youre gonna redeem him then have him Live. They certainly could do with more than 1 Jedi. But really they should have had him go more and more evil, because otherwise it makes Luke in TLJ seem like even more of a dick for giving up on him so damn easily.
2.
Spoiler:
That he loves her obviously. They had his obsession for her from Force Awakens go absolutely nowhere. Like he doesnt even tell her. Such bad story telling.

A Disney+ series about that would be cool.

Spoiler:
Ben murdered Han and countless other people. Not even counting the billions of people on the 4 planets they destroyed in TFA. He had to die.
I always find that notion of
Spoiler:pretty closed towards improvising new tales,
having to die because you commit big crimes
Spoiler:
redemption and the hard truth of your crimes, suffering and guilt are strong more christian themes that you chicken out from with timely deaths. At least we know for a fact Disney cannot make a compelling story out of those
Guess I'm throwing myself on a lightsaber here.
I enjoyed the movie. Probably will after a few subsequent watches. Maybe I'm not a diehard Star Wars fan because of that. I don't think I could discuss a lot of points that people think make the movie bad, but I do have a few concepts I can share for comparison.
On the Emperor's return:
Spoiler:
It sounds like a lot of people are upset that Palpatine's return undercut's Anakin's sacrifice. Was that same sentiment felt with Legends stories? If not, I'm not sure how one is handwaved over another.
Regarding Finn:
People seem to be frustrated by Finn for the lack of purpose his character has. A thought I had when considering it myself was this.
Finn is a character without purpose. That’s kind of his whole schtick. Taken while young, trained and conditioned to be a storm trooper. When he abandons that cause, what’s left for him? He spends the trilogy trying to figure that out, and the thing that he holds onto as a lynchpin is Rey.
It’s by design.
Or it seems to be.
Now, is that good design?
That could be debated.
The Rise of Skywalker
Spoiler:
seems to try and give him a chance to gain common ground on Endor with the other Deserters.

The difference between now and back then, is when
Spoiler:. Now? Now it's different and of course people are upset by it.
Palps first reappeared, it wasn't contradicting any lore at the time since it was made before the PT in the early 90s and given the approval by Lucas himself, it's not like Tom could see into the future

No not at all.
Would actually be refreshing to have a

I'm not sure I understand. This might also betray how little of old lore I actually was able to invest in. Still,
Spoiler:
even being accepted by Lucas, does Palpatine surviving not just ruin Anakin's redemption? Even excluding the emphasis on prophecy, it doesn't seem to me as though bringing him back is much more than an excuse to hold onto an effective villain for convenience.

I haven't seen it yet but I am surprised how many people like Kylo. I couldn't stand his ass in the last two movies. Him and Snoke were horrible villians in my opinion.
I curious if your stance will feel validated when you do see it.

I mean, it doesn't ruin his redemption no. He still turned good in the end and saved his son, that's what mattered. Also Tom actually wanted to bring back Vader, but Lucas said no, so he instead went with the next best villain.
