I expected this series to be a little cheesy(it's an Adventures title, after all), but this is some next level shit.

I'd like to think subsequent issues will be better(especially with the Dooku/Dracula book coming next), but I highly doubt anything good will come of this. ermm

I agree the new Vader stuff isn’t bad, most of the decent stuff Lucasfilm is doing is connected to old or pre existing characters

....Dracula and dooku? Are you serious? Da fuk?!

With a few rare exceptions, most of the canon Marvel comic series' have been really good... And that's saying something because nearly 300 total issues have been released so far. They have added tons of depth to the mythos, imo.

StarWars.com: Christopher Lee obviously has a big legacy in horror. You couldn't do this series without including Count Dooku, right?

Cavan Scott: That was our starting point actually, riffing on Sir Christopher's status as a horror icon. The man played two terrifying Counts... Was there a way to bring them together? Michael and I became increasingly excited about the idea of having a Dooku vampire story, and the rest of the stories followed from there. If we had a vampire story, we needed to have a possession story, and a witch story, and a monster story, too.

Yeh IMO the new canon isn't bad, they just need to stop making stuff appealing to 2 year olds canon. i.e. Forces of Destiny and this silly Vader comic.

I wished they started giving more info about the ancient times ( birth of the Jedi Order, sith etc) or at least canonize legends if they are lazy

Then what's the point of axing Legends, if they're just gonna recanonize stuff from it?

That's what kinda annoys me tbh, they bring in all these characters/concepts and what have you from the very thing they just destroyed and it's like...."then what's the point?" What they can't make new characters that can't stand on their own two feet?

I thought the whole axing of Legends, was suppose to mean new characters, new concepts and so on.

In fact, that would have really made this New Canon stand out, instead of rehasing old stuff and kinda butchering them in the process.

I mean I get Thrawn was a very good character(kinda the only character that hasn't been tarnished...ehh except maybe a few times in Rebels), but honestly was he really needed to be brought back? They couldn't make a newer character with their own quirks and air of awesomeness?

I found Agent Kallus and Dr. Cylo to be great new characters.....and then they either defected from the Empire(didn't really see much sense in this.) or died.

I believe that bringing back characters is completely fine, as long as they do well with it.

For example, if they were to bring back characters with potential that was never used before (such as Tulak Hord, Marka Ragnos) which would allow us to see them in a new light.

Not to mention it also gives us a better feat list.

Easier to scale pretty much.

Eh, never been a huge fan of the “let’s rewrite completely Sw” approach. I mean, were it up to me, I would just add new characters, but without contradicting events we’ve been already told about in Legends. For instance, I would bring back in Canon the war between Vitiate/Valkorion’s Sith empire and the Republic, simply adding new characters and new stories, maybe even changing some stuff, but keeping the overall concept of the war. I wouldn’t like it if they totally erased it from history in Canon and they said this war never happened. Same thought could be applied to all major events we’ve seen in the mythos

Tbf, Disney always left Legends continuity open as a resource they could pull from at any time.

Yes that's true, but then it's them not really making anything new if they're just bringing back old stuff.

Why can’t they bring back Tulak already?!

Disney is in a rare position where they can have their cake and eat it too. They have deemed that Legends is non-canon across the board, but they still left themselves with the option of canonizing anything from Legends, at any time.

I'm sure there is a business/monetary component to it as well. ie. if a certain character was a big draw in Legends, chances are that he/she would be a big draw in canon as well -- so you'd have a better chance seeing that character canonized at some point, because you know longtime fans will follow it. Thrawn is a prime example.

They shouldn't really have to just to entice older fans, but I see the point. Though frankly, I don't see why they're can't be both Disney and Legends going on at the same time, TOR is still going...even if it's...well gotten extremely weird.

I'm still irked we never really got to see what was gonna become of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate and beyond.

Now we're just getting rehashed Empire vs Rebels...oh I'm sorry...First Order vs The Resistance. 🙄

The only reason TOR is still going is because Disney Canon hasnt touched that era and those characters yet.

Once they do the Legends TOR stuff will be done.

I suppose, though it’s strange that they would even just let it continue even if they haven’t touched it really.

Legends continuity was NEVER canon so if Disney wants to cherry pick the best parts of that'd make it canon then im all for it; they're basically taking bit and pieces from fanfic and making it official stories within the star Wars universe and theres nothing wrong wth that

I think it's quite the contrary. They probably won't touch TOR stuff while the MMO is still around because of license reasons.

Overall, I do like how Disney has reorganized SW canonicity, tbh. Everything counts equally now- films, TV shows, comics, novels, etc. It's all 100% relevant, and builds upon the one true canon(yes, I know the films still technically supersede all, but you know what I'm saying.)

It's a far better system than the 'levels of canon' invented for the EU of old, imo. /shrug

Are they still releasing Tor expansions?
I imagine that's a pretty scary situation there. Both being at Bioware and waiting for Disney to throw down its fist.

Anyday they could all be Surtur'd.

AFAIK they will launch at last one more large content patch. Dunno about expansion.

Either, Bioware does have rights over TOR until 2021, so I doubt Disney will do something involving TOR before that.

Ah right I did not know that.

Yeah quality aside, this is a much better system.

Could never work in the past because fact was Lucas only counted his own work as canon.
