A ton of people care, actually. Tons. It's pretty big news because of how "in the media" he became lately. He also started to look like a nice Democratic Party symbol and was setting himself up to run against Trump in 2020.
But you're pretending like no one cares and this isn't a big deal because it's an anti-Trump schmuck who messed up big time.

Sounds ridiculous now and I am leaning towards Avenatti. Glad I waited for more facts. Still not decided but if it is a misdemeanor already this sounds shady.
No, felony assault is less commonly given out. Punching someone in the face is not felony assault, for example.
Hitting someone with a bat and chasing after them while screaming "I'm going to beat the shit out of you!" is felony assault.
I don't know why felony assault was even on the table in this situation.

Warning, that site, while informative, has a shit load of pop-ups.

Yeah I'm guessing they'll go with whatever charge they think has the best chance of sticking...if they decide to charge him at all.
On the other hand this could still turn out to be just like he said: a plot to take him down similar to what they tried on Mueller. The only difference is that Mueller was never arrested and held on a 50k bail nor was a restraining order against him granted.
