The way I see it, you hire a few guys wearing a mask to assault him, yell Maga shit, and walk away. Those same guys become the subject of "tips", that lead the police to them. They immediately cut a deal to cooperate, and get cut loose.
Maybe a bribe or two is paid, to smooth the process.
Smollett is left saying "But I really was assaulted!"
Who would believe him?
So I'm asking, if someone wanted to ruin Smollett's life (Who enjoys public support, and protection of powerful advocacy groups) and frame him, and drive him out of Hollywood, wouldn't this be the absolute perfect way to do it?

I don't think he should be jailed.
I think he should continue to work. A lot. And continue to be a successful actor.
But he should be required to pay a massive fine. A lot. And write an apology to the Trump Administration as well as the CPD.
