Your conclusion does not flow from the premise due to other possible explanations.
They need long range sensors to determine where suitable planets are. Otherwise they would be flying through space blindly.
These sensors can help them detect objects that are in their path.
Another explanation is she also can be comfortable because she knows the probability of hitting something is basically 0, even when flying blindly through space. In other words, to disprove that explanation, you have to prove that flying randomly in space, at light speed, for a year, have a probability higher than 0.000001 of hitting something.
Another explanation is she didn't think about it, as what it appears in the film. The writer does not think about these things. You are basically going against writer's intentions.
