it just has to be 'der left' because they're mad that english contradicted McMichael's story, and that totally makes sense because reasons

^This coming from the side that was looking for any excuse to claim this was a racially motivated shooting despite no proof whatsoever to fit such a narrative.
I laughed.

I've covered this already. My home repairs were $1,200 for the break-in and they could have been much more if I didn't do some of the repairs myself. In order to get it covered by my home-owners insurance, I needed a formal "reply" from the police that had the police report.
Getting a formal police report goes into the neighborhood crime data and directly drives down property values by tens of thousands of dollars, in just one "reporting cycle" which is usually a month.
Why? Because crime data matters in real-estate. Big time.
And I had 3 other neighbors who were broken into, as well. I talked to all 3 and the police officer handling our "cases" directed me to talk to all 3 of them before I got a formal police report reply back from them. None of us wanted to cause our real-estate value to plummet by getting formal police reports back because it would not undo the break-in damage and would not get our items back.
Seems like a no-brainer.
You can file police reports, online, for free, for any semi-modern city, by the way. 🙂 That's why it is best to talk to police, first. Don't file a police report especially if you plan to move from your home in the next 3-5 years.
Property damage and theft are not the same thing. As you indicated, you can repair some of the property damage yourself, but you are not going to get any real property back without police intervention.
Of course it does not make sense to file an insurance claim when the property damage and the repairs are less than your deductible, especially if it will have an adverse affect on your property value, particularly if you plan to move in the near-term.
But those are not the circumstances we are discussing, nor are they representative of the experience of most people. You are effectively pointing to an exception as if it disproves the rule, and it does not.

So do you two feel Larry English lied about being robbed of $2500 worth of fishing equipment? If the answer is yes, why do you think he lied?

So why did he say he was robbed? And remember: the "he did it to help the McMichaels" theory makes no sense.
2 different issues:
1-he claimed that he previously had $2500 worth of fishing equipment stolen, yet did not report it
2-he claimed that he observed arbery only walking through his property and never attempting to steal anything.

I do not know, nor do I think it is particularly relevant, I just thought it was strange. If someone stole $2,500 worth of anything from me, I would want him arrested out of basic principle, regardless of whether I could part with the material value. Not only because of the harm he did to me, but to hopefully stop him from causing harm to someone else.
The time to worry about property value is if and when you plan to sell your house or borrow against its value. Most people are locked into a 20-year commitment, and are not moving any time soon. They also do not have $400 for an emergency, let alone the ability to eat $2,500 today, because it might devalue their home for the next three years. Never mind, what unchecked criminal activity will do to the value of their home in the long-term.
So to me, it is just strange that someone would have $2,500 worth of real property stolen, and just shrug their shoulders about it. That does not mean that it did not happen, or that he is lying, it is just strange.

Just like this thread's topic, in both Georgia and Oklahoma, breaking and entering with the purpose of stealing is burglary.
https://law.justia.com/codes/oklahoma/2014/title-21/section-21-1435/
Regardless of what you say, it's the same on my insurance: still have to file a police report, it is filed as a burglary under state law, and it counts as a burglary crime in the neighborhood.
Then they cut me a check for my burglary costs. Guess what they are? Replacement costs due to burglary. That includes repairs to replace the busted door and door frame.

"Agents search home of 2 men charged with killing Ahmaud Arbery" -Snip
I'd imagine if the McMichaels had something like illegal guns or white sheet hoods and gowns, they'd already have had friends remove items like that. Though it's uncertain what is being looked for, that aspect is sealed by the courts.
