Man, you're absolutely right. I was wrong. An opinion article from a Washington Post writer demanding - in a very lengthy and systematically thought out article - we eliminate the expression of certain speech is definitely not a demand to suppress speech.

Thanks or clearing things up for us. What would we do with out your amazingly intelligent input into these topics? Thankfully, you were right there to contradict me when I posted my disappointment with WaPo, just in case "something."

I demand that you shut up

j/k. was making a point, though: did I just violate your civil rights?

Strawman time:

This is what the protesters want police to do when confronting black criminals:

who's trying to shut down free speech? networks are free to air what they wish and cancel what they wish. dictating that they must have cop shows however...

and before you make any ad hominem accusations, Lucifer is currently one of my fav shows, and it's a crime drama starring cops. I would be upset if it was cancelled (again)

The radical left and cancel culture completely kill any dissenting opinions. They’d vote for a world like the minority report if they thought it would eliminate wrong think.

once again, I see no violation of first amendment rights. people are free to threaten boycott, and companies are free to terminate an employee in order to avoid it.

yeah I'm sure you totally mean that uhuh

But these are organizations like the NYT not publishing OP-Ed pieces or media firing commentators for not aligning to group think.

This isn’t harmless. It even impacts science. Like certain studies won’t be funded or if data doesn’t confirm to what you like, they start manipulating it.

Do you not understand how much more it weakens a society when you attempt to cancel opinions that make you uncomfortable?

Also, times change. In 20 years, the world might be a very different place. You really don’t want to set this time of precedent because the opinions you might agree with will become unpopular and subject to canceling.

I was arguing against claims of first amendment violation. how do you propose fighting "cancel culture" without ironically trampling the first amendment rights of others?

It's a huge problem, you get a lot of people half understanding things. Nobody for example takes Darwinian evolution as Darwin propagated it as fact today. Despite existing at the same time as mendel the concept of inherited characteristics is not fully developed. Neither understood the molecular principles of inheritance and in life selection factors a more lamarckist concept is a big part of epigenetics. The driving forces of mutation etc. Are all not part of Darwins "survival of the fittest". Molecular evolution actually has very few holes, but you know.

But many posters here act as if Darwinian Evolution is the present model, not the century old starting point, partially because of Facebook and YouTube shoving retarded ideas at them.

I am not attacking posters here by the way, I am just making an observation.

When did I ever say that?

When did I ever say that?

because the act of humbling oneself and washing the feet of those of far lower stature was a tradition passed on from christ. certain christian monarchs throughout history have also copied this practice. it's a christian gesture/tradition

When did I ever say I was a Christian? I’ve never alluded to such.

why is the practice ridiculous, then? what's wrong with it?

Nope. Not falling for your gaslighting tactics. Try that shit elsewhere.

Why don’t you clean my feet?

nice cop-out. feel free to take back your silly assertion like a big boy, or at least learn what "gaslighting" means. what i told you about christian tradition was the truth.

i'm an atheist, so i'm not into the foot-washing thing. doesn't mean i can't appreciate the better points of christianity, since they are barely seen nowadays
