Funny enough, I read that same article a while back iirc. The parallels are there, sure, but there's a lot of reader interpretation going in to it too. Not that it's usually bad to do such things, but I think there's a difference between interpreting whether a character was trying really hard to kill someone in one scene, and something like their sexuality.

It also added to Teen Jean being a bit of a b1tch. The way she cornered Bobby like that and forced him to out himself was super messed up. Then Bendis just has them proceed like it's cool. Which is kinda the M.O. for her I guess. Violates everyone's privacy constantly, the X-Men offer a weak complaint, then wave it off. She acted so entitled to everyone's affection despite shitting on their trust constantly, even in that issue.

It's a common issue with comic books. You have a bunch of writers that just don't know how to write women, and even when some of them get written as being bitchy for whatever reason, nobody really calls them out on it.
It makes me wonder what kind of women these men spend their time around, or if there's some editorial mandate or something.

If Vulcan is a good boy in this current run, Cannonball might give him some tips on fighting Gladiator. Dazzler won't brag too hard on how she one-shot Black Bolt. Cyclops, Havok and Jean won't scold him for being the first one in their group dead-to-rights against that Brood swarm. Xavier knows random X-Men upstage Vulcan all the time, but he keeps Gabriel around out of sympathy.
