Godzilla vs Kong

One thing this movie did that wasnt quite normal was having missles and such from the armed forces affect Godzilla. He usually shrugs that stuff off without batting an eye. Also, depth charges that were strong enough to cause Godzilla to release Kong yet Kong was able to swim back to the boat seemed a little silly to me.

Apparently it was said somewhere by the director that even normal military weaponry like fighter jets had advanced greatly over the last few years to deal with titans.

Makes sense. Japan actually figured out how to kill Godzilla in the first movie, the US should at least come up with ways to hurt them.

What's everyone's rankings?

Mine are:

2014>GvK>KSI>KotM

KotM>GvK

GvK and Kotm are my favorites just because of the monster fights. Godzilla 2014 and skull island are more interesting stories though. I like all of them a lot tbh

I wasn't a fan of the fights in KotM. They weren't good IMO. They failed to convey the sense of scale and grandeur that 2014's fight did nor were they fun like GvK's. They were just bland.

GvK>KotM>KSI>2014 G

Anybody check on Quan? He was trolling for years about Kong stomping Godzilla.

The movie probably killed him. His heart could handle Kong being humbled not once but 4 separate times in the movie(he needed help against those flying snakes in the Hollow Earth)

Quan literally owes me money.

-Kong nearly got one shotted on the aircraft carrier. If the jets hadnt started distracting godzilla he was about to blast Kong after he slapped him down.

-Kong needed help from being drowned by godzilla.

-He needled help to not be suffocated by the Nozuki.

-even after godzilla used up energy blasting thru to hollow earth kong could manage no more than knocking godzilla down for a little bit with a pseudo magical axe. And once Godzilla decided to abandon his beam and go fully melee he wrecked Kong in literally a minute tops.

I love how Kong fans are saying that Kong won the second fight. Bro, Godzilla fell down, got right back up and wrecked Kong. How is that a W for Kong? These people are in denial.

They are hanging on hard to Skarsgard's "I guess kong won round 2"
comment even though he had just got out of the hollow Earth and was disoriented and only saw Kong make one move and prematurely called it.

There was a roughly one minute cutaway to MBB and crew and then cuts back to Godzilla popping back up and brushing off as if he was only down for seconds with Kong still nearby and hiding since he lost his axe somewhere after the last attack that knocked them both down.

Even if he were down for ten seconds by boxing rules that wouldn't be a win as Kong was trying to kill Godzilla (not get a sports technicality win) and had no confidence he could do so without his axe. That's why immediately after he got up he tried to sneak off to hide so he could find the axe as opposed to charging G directly without it.

Kong knew he hadn't won. Skarsgard didn't. Kong fans need to trust Kong's own super senses lol. Not a kong biased scientist making an out of context premature comment.

But if Kong fans want to go that desperate route we can say godzilla beat Kong three times instead of just two. Afterall Godzilla was about to kill him on the aircraft carrier after he slapped him if the jets didn't distract him.

And kong lost round 1 to the warbat. He only killed it after interference from humans. So you could call that round 2. Lol

Godzillas hollow Earth blast is an outlier according to Comicvine tards.

It is. Godzilla bores a hole through thousands of miles, stares down Kong across that vast distance, and then Kong climbs up in about a minute.... Yeah, it's completely illogical and inconsistent. Everything dealing with the Hollow Earth was dumb.

Think so? Thought Ghidorah looked really imposing. Absolutely dwarfed Rodan.

The storm obscuring him was a nice effect. Especially learning he is the storm.

Those same Comicvine nerds would argue Hanma Yujiro's Earthquake stopping punch in Baki the Grappler should totally count.

The thing is, there's no real reason to assume Godzilla isn't that powerful. He's never tried digging a hole before, never had any reason to. But his nuclear laser cuts down giant Kaiju who tank just about any weapon man can throw at them, so why not?

Less of an outlier then Superman turning back time.

Godzilla’s breath was a lot stronger in this movie. It barely hit Kong and it ****ed him up. It’s gotten stronger in each movie

The designs were nice. My issue is the fights themselves.

I mean, based on that feat, even a glancing blast of his breath lasting a fraction of a second should be gouging out pits thousands of feet deep. As for hurting Kaiju, sure. But, once again, based on that feat, I'd imagine even a nuke would be little more than a sparkler. The amount of heat required to vaporize that much rock is utterly absurd.

Absolutely.

We're talking radiation burns & poising for the whole damn city for the heat required to bore down that deep.

I had to turn my brain off and just enjoy the movie. 😆
