Also, context.
Goku and Vegeta just had a long, drawn-out fight right before that. When Goku sensed Boo's power he was like "Yo, that being is super powerful! We need to stop fighting each other and team up against it." Vegeta 'agreed' and they stopped fighting. Then Vegeta delivered that cheapshot while Goku was unprepared, because he wanted to try and stop Boo solo. Same basic reason he cheapshot KO'd Trunks and Goten a little later.
...Not a tactic I see him using in a proper fight.

True enough. for Vegeta it's a bad win.
Now Freeza on the other hand, the Revenge of F totally counts. He was robbed by Mr. "I don't play favorites" Whis.

Nah, old school Vegeta is not above cheating to win a fight. We’ve seen that throughout the whole series. It’s only in Super that mindset of Vegeta no longer applies.
The Majin boost was proof how underhanded old school Vegeta was.

Hey, Toriyama confirmed Broly is stronger than MUI Goku.So does this mean he's stronger than level 1 Granola and UE Vegeta?
What are the chances the dragon wasn't counting Broly, and he's even stronger than the strongest being in the universe at max power?
But Broly being that powerful doesn't mesh with Whis's statement that Goku and Vegeta were the most powerful mortals in U7 as of the start of this arc... unless Whis wasn't counting Broly for whatever reason. /shrug

I love Toriyama since he gave me Dragon Ball, and he drew one of my all time favorite game of all time, a little game call Chrono Trigger, but the man is forgetful as ****. I honestly would t take anything he says at face value.
