It did.

The whole [adult] transformation sequence with Goku in this episode was good, but I still prefer the GT SS4 design.

And if the title for next episode is any indication, the form's canon name will be "Super Saiyan Maximum".

The only difference is the black and red hair, right?

The animation is more what I'm referring to. I still prefer this design over this.

Daima SS4 Goku isn't terrible, but something about his look just seems a little off... Like the facial features and oversized hands. Would probably work better if we didn't have the GT design as a comparison, tbh.

i liked seeing adult ssj3 vegeta in action. that was awesome.

still don't see how this show can possibly be canon though. next episode should be the last.

I just watched the episode. The animations in this show is insane. Better than the movies. Goku Super Saiyan 3 looks much better than Vegeta's.

I really don't think it is now.

👆 Animation has definitely been Daima's strong-suit. Every episode has been nice on the eyes, if nothing else.

That said, even if the next/final episode ends up being an absolute masterpiece that tidies everything up perfectly, I can still honestly say that I enjoyed less than half of this series overall... Especially when we now know the Z Fighters getting turned into kids was a worthless plot-point that ultimately added nothing to the series. In fact, I probably would have enjoyed Daima more if the heroes had just stayed adults the entire time. ermm

Toriyama deliberately featured all of the Kaioshin that appeared during the ToP in Daima, when he absolutely did not need to. He also intentionally fleshed-out the multiverse/cosmology with the introduction of Rymus and whatnot. There is literally no other reason to include that kind of stuff, if not to establish a direct link to DBS. Aside from that, I highly doubt Toriyama would have invested so much personal time in a non-canon project. /shrug

But like I've said numerous times: every major plot-hole up to this point can still be resolved with a simple mind-wipe(from either Neva or the Dragon) at the end of the series. SS4 is the main thing that must go away in order for Daima to retain any semblance of canonicity at this point(even if it just becomes one of those "only accessible in the Demon Realm" sort of things.) Because SS4 simply cannot exist in current DBS in any kind of semi-believable way. The other plot-holes aren't nearly as crucial.

However, if SS4 is still a usable form after the finale, then I would personally consider putting Daima in the "canon-adjacent" category. IOW, DBS is canon to Daima, but Daima isn't canon to DBS(not unlike the relationship between DBZ and GT)... Until I get a legitimate reason to assume otherwise. The smaller and more inconsequential plot-holes can at least be [sloppily] rationalized if need be... But an entire transformation? Nah.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the finale, though.

Chapter #104 just canonized Olibu ("Oribu" in Japanese):

This is actually a pretty big deal, because it's the first time a character from anime filler has ever been officially canonized. Also makes me wonder if they're subtly teasing a canon Otherworld Tournament, wherein we might get a canon Pikkon as well. mmm

A lot of things from the anime has become canon tbh. There were fillers in Daima as well.

oh damn i didn't even realize the manga was back! i have to wait til i get home to read it myself, but did the issue give any hints at where the story is going from here?

^ It's not really "back", per se... At least not in regular circulation. Chapter #104 was just a special/one-shot that gave a little more backstory on how Goten and Trunks became the Saiyaman duo -- it's a prelude to the Super Hero arc, basically. The chapter itself wasn't anything to write home about, and gave zero indication on where things are going. Olibu becoming canon is really the only noteworthy thing that happened, tbh.

As for the future of the DBS manga: this chapter did at least end with "To Be Continued!", implying that it isn't cancelled at this point, just on a [long] hiatus still.

Lmmfao... What the hell is this? 😆

Wait till they reach their X-23 and X-24 forms 👆

it was the chapter everyone asked for, but no one wanted in the end. lame af.

They just need to make Pikkon canon.

Would honestly love to see Pikkon get brought into canon at some point, if it's done right.

The only other character I wouldn't mind being recycled in DBS is Janemba(especially with all the Demon Realm world-building we've gotten in Daima)... But aside from that, hopefully they just stick with Freeza and whatever his motives are for a while.

I agree. Janemba would be a great move as well.

janemba with daima tier animation would be lit. 👆

The finale itself was decent enough, I guess, but all in all, Daima was a huge disappointment for me. Thank God it was only 20 episodes. At least the animation was consistently great, though, I'll give it that. 👆

That said, unless an official source confirms Daima's canonicity, then I'm personally putting it in the same category as GT(ie. DBS is canon to Daima, but Daima is non-canon to DBS)... With SS4(among other things) in the picture, it really can't fit into DBS canon at this point. /shrug

There was no EoS mind-wipe, which could have reconciled almost everything. There was no "it only works in the Demon Realm" kind of stip on SS4(and apparently Goku had already unlocked SS4 at some point prior to Daima anyway (lol), so I'm thinking Neva's magic just helped coax it out of his chibi form?) There was no remerger of Shin and Kibito. Etc.

Also, with all the fan-fic-esque "reveals" we've gotten in this show, the lack of a new fusion honestly surprised me. The fusion bugs were just a giant red herring.

Gomah is probably one of the lamest villains I've ever seen in DB, and his weakness is even worse(three hits to the back of the head? Seriously, lol?) The fight between he and Goku was visually stunning, but very anticlimactic.

I did enjoy seeing Kuu's "ascension" into the King of the entire Demon Realm, though. Pretty bad when he is arguably the best character in the show.

Yea if GT isn't canon, Daima definitely shouldn't be.
