The intrigue behind Pope Francis' "bombshell" comments on same-sex civil unions

Don't know and don't care; as I said before I'm not a catholic nor do I consider Roman Catholicism to be part of real Christianity.

Imo, Francis is going to be the last pope ever.... I feel we are getting really close to the end. The Great Tribulation will probably happen within the next 5-10 years and after that Christ will return to gather up His elect during the rapture right before God lets loose His vengeful wrath upon the world.

Oh you're one of those the rapture is right around the corner Christians.

That's actually one of the reasons I became an atheist. Like what kind of "loving" god would do that to their children.

None that I would ever believe in.

He is. Has been for years. It's borderline mental illness/handicapped.

@ethneo, why don't you think Roman Catholicism real Christianity?

I've already posted my reasons for that on multiple occasions and it's really annoying having to repeat myself over and over again.

I won't go into detail yet again but I'll briefly give some general reasons:

1. Catholics belief that the pope is the head of Christ's church. Jesus Himself is actually the true head of it, not a any sinful, fallible human... and most certainly not one who teaches anti-biblical doctrines.

2. Roman Catholicism teaches a false gospel wherein a person has to work at getting salvation. They believe in a "good works salvation."

The real gospel teaches we are saved by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. Our sins (both past and future) are paid in full by His blood. Our good works contribute nothing to it whatsoever.

3. Roman Catholicism has pagan roots. The early church compromised by allowing romanism into it. Many of the statues they have in their cathedrals which they claim are people like Mary (whom catholics almost seem to worship) and other important people in Bible actually were originally statues of roman gods and goddesses.

4. Mary Worship. They seem to worship Mary as if she is actually a goddess. They have statues (which they claim are her but they aren't). They are always doing things like kissing the feet of them or praying to them.

They have their "Hail Mary!" prayer wherein they just praise Mary over and over again. They praise Mary far more than they do Jesus, Himself.

Mary was a sinner though just like the rest of us which is why she basically admitted she needed a savior. If anyone was truly sinless they wouldn't need Christ.

Mary cannot hear their prayers anyway. She is not omniscient or omnipresent as God is. She was indeed blessed among women but that is all she was: a woman. She was not and is not divine in any way.

5.They teach people to confess their sins to a priest in a confessional booth when they should be directly asking God Himself to forgive them, not some priest who is a sinner himself.

6.The pope has all of that gold he wears and his throne is made out of gold too. He wears a gold crown on his head.

Jesus would never condone someone who preaches His message to dress like that. He would want them to give away all that gold in order to feed people.

And yes, I know the RCC has fed people. I'm not claiming the RCC has never done any good. But if the pope were truly Christian he
would not be dressing as if he were a king or something lol.

There are many more reasons but those are just off the top of my head. If you are really interested in it there are plenty of videos on You Tube describing why Roman Catholicism is not really Christian. I might post some links to them later on if I get time.

I'm starting to understand your thinking, virgin.

Dude, I don't care... you can mock and ridicule all you want. Your opinion of me or my beliefs doesn't mean shit to me; nor do I really care about your story of how you became an atheist.

If me stating my beliefs bothers you so much them perhaps you should just put me on ignore.

LOL Sorry, that's not gonna happen. God calls homosexuality an abomination. We are not going to change God's Words just to satisfy snowflakes like you who don't agree with them.

That’s ok. They don’t need to be changed. Just ignored.

I don't think that's a fair comparison, but generally, what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home is their business.

So you think incest is okay?

Yes. Not only is it okay, but humans would not exist had we not HEAVILY practiced incest for thousands of years.

The probability birth defects and genetic defects, between first cousins, is less than the probability for women who are 37 and older. So if you oppose incest relationships because of the dangers to offspring, and want it codified into law, you should also pass the same law prohibiting women who are 37 and older from having children.

Let consenting adults do what they want with each other.

Agreed?

If you don't see the problem with incest, abortion, and homosexuality then I seriously doubt you're a real Christian.

And honestly, you don't have to be a Christian to see the problems with incest and abortion.

And it's more gay so-called "marriage" that I have a problem with rather than actual homosexual acts that 2 guys might engage in in the privacy of their own homes or whatever.

A man lying with another man is an abomination in the eyes of God regardless of whether they are "married" or not or what I think of it.

Dude...incest is a common "thing" in the bible. Not sure how a Christian would oppose incest for Christian reasons.

We don't care if you made us and the universe, you need to conform to what we think is right! We're the new arbiters of what is morally right and wrong!". 😆

I imagine that wouldn't turn out to well for whoever said that to him lol.

Adam and Eve were direct brother and sister, if you believe the Garden of Eden story is not an allegory. In Christian Mythology, humanity starts with two heaping scoops of sibling incest.

Yes, incest was okay for a time after the creation. In fact, there wasn't enough humans available at the time to engage in non- incest sex.

Incest is not okay anymore though. It can lead to freak mutations and deformities and, more importantly, God now forbids it.

I've already answered this with my other post. Incest was okay back then as there weren't enough people to engage in non-incest sex, it's not ok anymore. Today we have a much bigger genetic load to contend with which can lead to deformities and such if close relatives reproduce.

You don't get to decide whether I am or am not a real Christian. My communion and confirmation do. The church does. And for all their faults, according to them, I'm one of the boys. And yet, they're not God.

To me, speaking on behalf of God is a pretty shitty thing to do. But that's me.

So I don't exactly consider you much of a Christian yourself. Though, just as you don't, I don't get to decide those things either.

Keep your fallacies to yourself, thanks.

Because Catholics weren't puritanical enough for the Christians that ****ed off to America back in the day. A point they reminded them of when immigrant Catholics left Europe to come to America, only to be treated like shit.

No, I've already answered some of the reasons that Roman Catholicism is not real Christianity. People coming to America had nothing to do with it lol.

He didn't ask you anyway. His question was directed at me.

Nah, none of those are needed. It's easy to shut down people like you without them.

Luckily, tbat's not your decision to make.

True, but I wanted him to hear it from a "real" Christian.
