To other Democrats, maybe. Democrats cannot afford to lose any seats, or we will lose any progress we working towards in the following tow years.

Oh ya. As shit-bad as they are for doing that, they're still better than 99.999 of Republicans right now.

2022 will be DEM majority. I think 52/48 but worst case scenario, 50/50, best case scenario, 54/46.

The eight Democrats who voted 'no' on $15 minimum wage

One of President Biden’s top policy goals, an increase in the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025, suffered a big setback Friday when eight members of the Senate Democratic caucus voted against it. -snip

As of right now, those eight deserve to lose their positions in 2022.

Was seeing somewhere that every one of those who voted against it is worth a few million each.

Its just disgusting tbh.

Disgusting. Politicians and their dickery with the American people.

For the next two years, Democrats need to remain united, and Republicans divided. If Democrats control Congress in 2022, they can push through a more progressive agenda than they are now. But Democrats in conservative parts of the country need to be able to hold onto their seats for that to happen.

Not too sure "Progressive" is any better of a word on the left then it is on the right though.

We have a lot of centrists. If that wasn't the case, we sure as heck wouldn't have Joe Biden representing the Democrats, as he's as center to the left as it gets.

Wait. In America, you guys consider Biden left of centre? JFC...

it doesn't help when he calls himself a socialist and cites denmark as an example. Denmark is so conservative, it still has a royal family ffs.

So how would that make him extreme left ?

I think his point is that he isn't.

My point was he pretends to be, confusing American people even further.

Americans struggle with the concept that socialism isn't just an economic model and that when many "socialists" call for "socialism" they actually mean taxing the wealthy a bit more in order to pay for stuff.

The reason they struggle with that concept is that their entire media is owned by the people who would be taxed more and those people are greedy psychopaths who don't want to give up any of their money and so for 70+ years they've been successfully brainwashing the American public into thinking that socialism would be terrible for them.

That's why norway has a trillion dollar surplus sovereign wealth fund and America has 28 trillion dollar debt.

See, the thing that continues to confuse me is windering what happened to the true believers.

People get awfully invested in matters of right and wrong.

It stands to reason at least a few true blue crusaders would gain access to the upper echelons of power.

Or at the least, you'd have an army of activists carefully watching the power elite, to make sure their causes aren't perverted too badly for personal gain.

You do have those people.

You can look Costco as a company that follows a good number changes and thrives. They had higher than average worker wages and lower salaried Executive Leadership group.

The problem is the system rewards greediness and is designed to fuel that. So even if all the billionaires aren't "evil" they still get large benefits from the system which rewards them with more and more.

EDIT:
It also means that the truly greedy ones can exercise their influence more on the system.

Sanders doesn't really "pretend" though. He wants the super rich and mega corporations to pay their fair share, no special rules for them and he gets labelled a "socialist!" because of it, which "socialism" is generally considered a dirty word in America, even by people who currently benefit from socialist policies like free-to-them medical care.

TBF, he also gets labelled a "communist" as well sometimes.

What's amusing is it's the same media that supposedly lie about everything nowadays that have been telling the plebs for decades that socialism is bad. But somehow they are telling the truth about that.

Fair enough he did, so it's really how America views socialism as a dirty word, when we have socialism and socialist asepects already. Our police and fire departments, our roads, our retirement program, public schools.
