Abortion is a personal matter. Women that opt for an abortion often times, later in life wish they hadn't. But there are a lot of examples where the decision to have an abortion was the best one. There are also a lot of women who don't regret having an abortion. Like religion, it's a personal matter. One that is up to the individual. Sure, there are a lot of couples out there who want a child or children but can't have one. Adoption is a great alternative to the empty feeling of never being able to raise and love a child. I also believe that circumstances permitting, the father of the child should be consulted BEFORE an abortion is performed. Sure, it's the mothers body, but the father had just as much of a roll in creating the child as the mother does. Maybe the mother doesn't want the child, but the father does. Sure, the father should have rights too. However, you have situations where it's not feasible to involve the father. Rape or incest, clearly the father isn't going to be a factor in the descision. But I have always felt that the father should have rights too. That being said, if both parents want to terminate the pregnancy, then they should have the right to do so. Without question. This is another example of peoples private lives being interfered with by outside sources that have nothing to do with the matter at hand. Again, just like I have said in regards to homosexuality, if there are religious consequences that come from a persons actions, then they are their consequences to deal with. Not the governments, not the next door neighbors, not the congregation at the local church. It's all a matter for the person living their life.
