Well, here you are, in the Religion thread ๐Why do you think?

It was a continuation of our conversation from the "Mormon Speech" thread that got closed for duplicity.
In fact you might even be able to start aa thread in the GDF discussing such things as the difference in what cultures might find to be sexual in nature or a comparison of acceptability of nudity between men and women.
At any rate even though you started an offtopic conversation in a duplicate thread, that is no excuse to continue the off topic conversation in another thread that it would indeed be off-topic to.

I don't honestly care whether you know that. And I don't think there's much harm done in your off topic thread. Heck, I'm off topic right now. But I'm still going to laugh at you. ๐
I'm laughing because you are making a big deal over whether you knew you were off topic, but for all your intelligence in being able to discern that you were off topic, you are unable to take a hint and move to the off topic forum.
No harm done, I'm just surprised you aren't embarrassed. ๐

You were not giving a subtle hint, you were just being a moron.

Hey, I'm sorry I offended you. I just meant to have a good laugh, but I'll try not to go so far next time.

Thank you. I didn't find out until last night when I read your post. It's rather hard to believe. I'll miss his talks.
was stopped by missonaries of the latter day saints today, If the event was a boxing match it was closer to them agreeing with me and my views........so maybe we have some doubters withint the ranks of the well dressed and perfectly behaved missonaries, they left with what to call it a questionar marked face of someone in doubt............hate to do that to those well behaved youths that take the bother to learn our language and adress in it.

Sorry Shaky, but I don't know what you are talking about, except that you're responding to ushomefree. I've gone back five pages and I can't find ushomefree anywhere.

You must understand that quite a few young men become missionaries because they can't get married to someone they would like to unless they go on a mission. Seriously.
Here is an example:
I was at a table at the MTC with a bunch of missionaries...most of them were in my MTC district. (District is just a way to organize the trainees into groups.) Someone started the question of "why did you go on a mission". I am dead serious when I say that most of them said that they came on a mission because they wanted to be able to get married to a nice girl and they didn't have a chance unless they were a return missionary. Some other responses were, "To go on an adventure!", "To meet new people and make new friends.", or "Because I wanted to be like *insert older brother's name or some other idol here*."
I was literally the only one who went on a mission because I wanted to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, bring happiness to other's lives through living the gospel, and serve others. ๐
The only one out of all those missionaries.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to say that I am better than they are...that is NOT it...because I am probably the only one out of that group who knows what a cleveland steamer is(My point is, I have foul mouth...can I have a vice?)...but I do feel that they all went for the wrong reasons.
Also, there is also a teaching technique that you probably fell victim to. I have seen it with many many missionaries as they teach. They agree with your points of view, introduce Mormon doctrine that coincides with your point of view, and say things such as "oh, I see your point" or "I never thought of it that way." It is a way to spark conversation and mutual interest. This furthers you as a "contact" later on down the road. This may keep the door open to future discussions. They are now using a book called "Preach My Gospel" which is very basic and most Christians could probably agree with most of the doctrine.
If they truly were astonished by your confounding words, congratulations, you pwnt a 19 or 20 year young man who only went on a mission so he could get some action post mission. ๐
Case in point, I was very good at being a missionary. Before my mission, I studied anti-mormon literature/doctrines up and down and I could often recite those ideals to people as they were spewing them out. I have ALMOST read, heard, and seen it all when it comes to anti-mormonism. In the past, I to debated it but it takes WAAAAY too much time and no one ever wins on an internet debate...especially if it is on religion.
It is probably best to debate religion with a mormon in person in a relaxed environment...like a coffee shop...wait... ๐
Dorkerina-
With all sincerity and respect that I can muster, I must inform you, that Mormons are not Christian; you are free to believe differently. But that belief couldn't be further from the truth. Again, with all sincerity and respect, you are simply wrong. Mormons are not Christian. I have provided various articles for your reading pleasure and consideration; you will note, that the articles were written in good faith, and in no way, shape, or form do the articles "blaspheme" the Mormon faith. The articles only present the obvious--however undesirable that may be. Please read:
