Holes in The Matrix Movies

What happened to Smith's host when Neo deleted him in part 1?

died, most likely...not man would be able to stand it if he was blown apart, just like Smith Shouldn't have been able to come back, but he did...

When an agent is killed, the host dies, this was shown on the rooftop in M1. That does not, however, mean that the agent dies. The agent would live, but should return to the source - Smith did not, and was altered in the process, before he took a new host.

The machine's intent of invading Zion was to destroy the humans living inside, right? So why didn't they just have a sucide bomber type of robot to take them out? Wouldn't that take care of the problem much sooner and efficiently? And why didn't the sentinels come equipped with guns? I still thought the Matrix was an awesome movie though.

A sentinel for every man, woman, and child in Zion. That sounds exactly like the thinking of a machine to me.

i still say there were a lot more than 1/4 million sentinels

That's a stupid question....
If the machines would have had this option, there were no hope for the people in zion.
And the main point is, it would be less exciting for the audience.

The other olive was already in the cup...burly.

🙄 alas...as i thought.... 🙁

Cray, exactly. Given a choice over reality and entertainment, I'd choose entertainment. Wouldn't be much of a movie if it made sense, right? :-)

Suspension of disbelief. Same reason armies in the SW films fight as if they are in the Napoleonic era, and get prommtly blown apart by air strikes. 'Realism' takes a second place to excitement and entertainment- no bad thing.

But it can only go SO far. On the assumption the Hammer did something worthwhile- and after all thatr screen time it had better have done!- then it is truly weird that there were no emergency EMP defences in Zion to be used if the dock fell, and that they needed a ship to come back and do it! If an EMP had not been used at any point then I would have put the lack of EMP devices in the 'suspenion of disbelief' category also- but they drew attention to it, which rather highlights the logical oddity.

😕 maybe its because it would have taken out their APUs...Jason wasnt to happy about the hammer using it

But as I say. If we assume that the Hammer DID do something useful- and Jason did order the dock opened precisely SO they could get in and use it, despite his grumpiness later- then a single EMP unit in Zion would have had the same effect for emergency use.

If an EMP was NOT useful, then the entire presence of the Hammer in the film, the chase sequence, and the Kid opening the Dock doors, was a complete waste of screen time.

The EMP WAS useful, but i don't hink Locke opened the dock door just so they could use the EMP, but, rather, to get them inside the dock...

APUs are mechanical, like cars, they rely on humans to control them rather than humans pressing buttons on a machine, so they would be alrite

Lock said the EMP took out the APUs in the movie...

*ehermm* we call him Jason from now on

I call him Lock, cause, after all, he was a commander...

Indeedy he did.

One way or another, the EMP was useful, and so having called attention to that in the film, it is VERY odd that what was orignally called the only effective weapon against the machines is only on the ships and none are there for emergency use in Zion itself.

I think that the entire battle sequence to save Zion was a plot hole. The machines were acting like they WANTED to get their ass kicked. But I don't really think it detracts from the movie at all. I didn't walk into the movie expecting all of my questions to be answered. I walked in to be entertained, and I'd say I got my money's worth. It was good mindless entertainment, which wasn't so mindless at all :-)
