colossus is know widely considered class 100... thing is not...
colossus moves extremely quick for a man his size... he loses almost none of his agility from his human form...
he has lived in (and trained with) the xmen for several years, including a martial arts expert (wolverine)...
colossus very rarely underestimates his opponent, he doesnt run in shouting "its clobberin time"...
i like thing, he's definately 'cooler' but current colossus imo can take him...
apologies for the double post
I didn't say he was a simple strong man, I said he is the strong element of the X-Men. They all cover specific roles, it comes with the size of the group. Nowadays many are just desperate characters, but that's another point.
Second point: duly conceded on the strength level point, I replied to that wrongly. I have already pointed out that I don't think it would come down to strength though, and I don't think the difference is enough to make a massive impact on the outcome. I do believe Thing is the better fighter however, which is why I back him.

i know thing is a good fighter, i never disputed that, but he's a brawler, and any brawler will be beaten by a decent martial artist... and from what i've seen colossus also has the advantage in speed...
i don't believe that if most xmen learned from wolverine, that somehow colossus wouldn't. i don't think its a stretch to think he's learned something.
Is the skill level on which Colossus attacks gonna be a better factor than him using his strength in an all out slugfest against The Thing?
Colossus doing Judo against Thing isn't gonna do nearly as well as Colossus steaming in there all fury blazing. In which case, to utilise his full strength potential that he needs, it would more than likely come down to a brawl. A contest I believe Thing would win.

Colossus didnt seem to have any problems with Ord using his Judo. Thing would be no diff. imo. Colossus fights with his brains more than Thing does and people need to realize thise. As my wrestling coach always said if you have two guys equal in talent the stronger one always wins. And if it turns into a complete slugfest that would be Things game. But remember when Colossus is provoked he has been known to flip out and kill his opponents. So I think Colossus has more of a killer instinct than ol' blue eyes
Whenever the name Thing gets mentioned in a vs-thread, everyone almost immediately says :"...but...but...Thing is the greatest brawler. That's what he does. That's what makes him Thing you know ?!".
I said it before and I'll say it again : brawling will only get you so far. Because brawling is, well, it's just brawling, nothing more. Like brawling is some kind of guarantee to a swift victory. Yeah right.
I vote for Colossus because he's certainly stronger, and probably more durable and smarter, but I don't mind a win for Thing. But not because Thing is a good brawler. You need something more.
While Colossus is stronger, it's not stronger to the degree that it's gonna win him the match. It's give him a better shot but it's not some tenfold increase. Smarter yes but how is he gonna use that? Dodge alot and outsmart alot so that he can land attacks, so? Thing is not that far off Colossus where durability is concerned so it's not as though it's gonna swing the match. Colossus can come out with all the judo throws and karate kicks that he wants, it's never gonna be as good a use of his new strength (his greatest asset in this match) as if he goes in furiously. In which case it would come down to a knockdown drag-out fight. A match I believe Thing is more capable of winning.
You need more than brawling to win a fight but you need only brawling to win a slugfest. Which is what I believe it'll be.

i disagree yet again 😛
if you are 6' 5" and 250 pounds and a guy 7' and 300 pounds does a throw on you it will hurt like hell, why? because of the force of the throw, colossus is strong enough to utilise that strength, plus his speed and agility to outwit and take down the thing imo... his strength can be equally effective if channeled through whatever martial art he uses imo...
i can't see it being a slugfest at all...
and even if by some way it did...
colossus is stronger, faster, more intelligent (imo) and more durable than thing... he can win in a slugfest too...
Since when did Colossus become a freakin' ninja?????
Yes, he's been trained in judo and stuff. I know.
Did ya'll forget that Thing has FAR more experience fighting
and a far greater range of opponents fought???
His "brawling" and "street-fighting" have been honed since he
was a child. Thing is not JUST a brawler. He's skilled in wrestling as well.
The difference in strength between the two is not that great.
You think Colossus can go against the Hulk as repeatedly and
as well as Thing does?
Thing lasted longer in the ring with The Champion than Colossus.
He's already proved to be a better fighter and have more heart.

more heart? pure bs... colossus has as much heart as any hero...
better fighter... sure... brawling and wrestling... against... judo and stuff? is stuff some new martial art form?
