It's really quite simple; The Bible is well written and an interesting read. You may take alot of it for wisdom and alot for fiction. To base your faith on one book is insane.

The Bible is actually made of 66 books, but yeah, basing your faith in a science book is insane.

What I most dislike about fundamentalists is that they always have a ready quote to prove their rightousness.

Haha, I wasn't talking about a science book, any book. (66 books you say? Let's just call them A book for now)

Going out to eat, see ya later!

Ska> Hovind, the guy who filed for bankrupcy? http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/hovind-decision.html, and who filed false tax schedules, made a bad faith court filing, and lied about his income in order to evade paying income tax he lawfully owed?
No I don’t trust a man who cheats and has been caught lying.
You? You sprout my Bible-quotes than anything else. You have NO proof, and are you an expert on geology, biology and paleontology? No? No, I don’t take your claims serious.

Anyone else?
Where IS your proof of Creationism? Come on – don’t tell me you have none and just believe a story someone told you.
I'm waiting.

It's hard to dig up the proof now that the garden of Eden has been lost in the mist of time. Anyhow, I can agree with those that settle for faith instead of proof. What real evidence do we have for Darwins evolution. Where is the missing link ?

Paxelius> I suggest you browse this forum - there is proof listed, links to websites and for you http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/specimen.html

And you have to convince me the Garden of Eden EVER existed. There is plenty of evidence and proof to support evolution, there is NONE to support the Earth is 6000 years old.
Faith is not proof.

how is that insane? Science advances us, reilgion hold us back. U know my choice, my guess u failed science and hate it. Tough luck. Welcome to the Real World. If u still believe the Earth is 6000 years old, ur gonna have a rough life

I got some links which suggest the first homo sapiens were earlier than formerly supposed, but have lost them 💃

You are a tad small minded. Religion is not all dogma and not all dogma is religion; what about the political correctness mythologies for starters? Or the creed of the Nazis and Soviets?

I've already said this, but http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/dave_matson/index.shtml has alot against Hovind and his "proofs", a fun read to see. Read Hovind's 2 sentence proofs and read Matson's page-long counter. Science just works better.

Shaber> Agent Elrond is right, though. Science is what advances human society. When can you claim religions has done the same? How are we to know when religion is dogma and when it isn’t? Even religious people can’t agree on that?

The Omega: Ok, I'll soon check out the link. But I agree that it's quite silly to think that the earth is only 6000 years. It's also silly to dismiss the Bible just because it has some outdated and fictous materials.

About the Garden of Eden: As I said, I cannot prove that it existed. But I think that in some form it probably did, I belive that because I've heard about it yes, and it's not really important if it actually existed. The most important part for me is that it is an intriguing story 🙂

Noah's big flood? It's made up, or if there was a flood, Noah just lived in the wrong valley. Imaging how much water is needed. Read this and you should think about the validity of the Flood.
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/dave_matson/young-earth/additional_topics/flood.html

There is plenty of dogma that is completely secular too. The political correctness mythologies have little or no basis in fact and the nazis and soviets, two of the most brutal political movements our species has come up with - despised religion in all forms.

i dont believe in creationism perse, more that some being more capable than us, more advanced, maybe even some sort of deity, started it all. Evolution by definintion has to start somewhere, u can't evolve something out of nothing, it needs a base with which it can evolve. that is my theory, something, extra terrestrial or deity started it all, laid the foundations, and then evolution took care of the rest

Agent Elrond: These flood-stories seems to have occured all around the earth as we find fragments and stories of them in every continent. There has been floods, no doubt, but to take the story of Noah literally and think it's the only one and correct story, that's a little foolish.

Paxelius> Why shouldn’t I dismiss the Bible? It’s an old outdated book, translated, re-translated, changed and edited by various church officials to fit their needs and filled to the covers with wrong translations (Such as how a Babylonian King was transformed into Lucifer). A text saying bigamy, incest and infanticide is JUST okay?

Intriguing story? Well, so are the old Roman and Greek stories of their Gods, Norse mythology and Hindi mythology – you believe in those intriguing stories as well?

Nazis despising religion? Untrue. And what does Nazis have to do with giving me proof of Creationism?

Mine is the hand that carries the whip 🪩

The Omega: Just browsed that link, but it's too much to read and really not my cup of tea. I belive there is some mystery in our shrouded past and hope science can make a definite answer - but I somehow doubt it.
