Yet, just 2 issues later, as you correctly pointed out, none of this was even hinted at, indeed it was apparently, openly contradicted (probably to make the Surfer-Thor fight "more exciting"😉. And AFAIK, there was no "official retcon" involved, either. And again, seeing how Surfer stalemated Loki earlier in #4, the most Loki could've done is double SS's power, whereas Surfer lost far more than half his power to the sonic shark (in FF#72, the Surfer mentioned that it had "almost totally drained" him of his power).

Eh, tossup. It could go either way.

P.S. That scan is fine and all, but it's kind of a cheap shot. Thor's not even paying attentioin to Surfer.

Thor can't take deal with huge speed as show many time.

Mjolnir's a part of Thor, meaning that he should be able to counter any maneuvers made by Surfer with Mjolnir. Seeing as how Surfer never speed blitzes his opponents, speed shouldn't be a problem.
