For someone with a position of authority, you are rather cruel. You are also utilizing an Ad Hominem. You're attacking the person rather than placing emphasis on the issue at hand and while the poster may not be as literarily inclined as you, they were making a point.

Their point was the same stupid point that every other religious nut job makes. "You don't agree with me and my beliefs, thus you are going to hell to be tortured and hurt for all eternity.".
Now, what is more cruel, me making fun of his gigantic run on sentance, or him saying that anyone who doesn't conform to his beliefs deserves and is destined to be tortured for all eternity.
I tire of these scare tactics that people use in order to back up their shitty beliefs. Anyone who uses scare tactics is an instant moron and I get sick of people cunting off about it. "I'll pray for your soul". How condesending. Maybe if she didn't imply that me and other people who don't believe in her religion were going to be tortured for all eternity then I wouldn't have felt the need to mock her.

I don't take it as an offense, I just get really sick of them using that as their soul defense for everything. It's annoying, it's condesending and very tacky. Believing in hell has nothing to do with it. Idiocy has always bothered me.
It's similar to something like skinheads running around saying "we hate black people, black people are bad, black people should be killed". It's just thier opinion, and you know it isn't true, but it's still obnoxious and idiotic and annoying.
Scartactics is the last refuge of an idiot, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that so many Christians use it to get their point across, since they can't come up with any real arguments most of the time.

Also, I did say MOST OF THE TIME. There are plenty of intelegent Christians that I have talked too, and they don't use scare tactics to try and defend their beliefs.
I've yet to see an intelegent person use that as their defense, it's always idiots who don't have the intelegence to create a reasonable argument to back up their beliefs.
Those Skinheads and Christians (that use scare tactics) are known to be nothing but Fanatics. Extremists have always use irrational and idiotic arguments. Remenber when you told me about the Bush-haters? I said some them sound so extreme with their opinions and you told something like "just laugh at them". Well, why not apply the same rule here? Why even acknowlege these people? They obviously think they are ALWAYS right and we know that's not the case.
I see them as JC fanboys because that's exactly what they are....a bunch of irrational enthusiasts. They are only good for a joke......eventually one day they'll get tired and will go worship something else. I've seen it before and I'm sure that guy will follow the same path one day.
Actually, if you go up and read my statement that started this whole thing, I was laughing. I was making fun of the guy who was throwing out fanatical and idiotic ideals.
Then someone claimed that I was being "Cruel and not responding to the issue". So, I then explained why I made a "cruel" statement to the person in teh first place. I wouldn't even have gotten into this had someone not challenged me and compelled me to explain why I said what I said. I was perfectly satisfied with making the fellow look even dumber then he made himself look.
And everyone shoud know that I don't back down from an argument when challenged.
Like I said, it doesn't "offend" me when someone throws the hell card out during an argument, I justt think it's stupid and obnoxious, and I always insult and make fun of stupid and obnoxious people. If those people then feel compelled to take it a step further and develop it into an actual argument, I have no problem ripping them a new one.
But in away you've proven your point and your argument. And I think that other person has realize what you were trying to do. For the sake of the original argument of the thread I mention the whole "atheist and hell" thingy. It was not meant to analyze another board member. Just to point out what so far has been discussed. And I also wanted to mention that Fanatism behind all those extremist. Notice that I also address that guy and told him something that he will sure find in his bible (tolerance and forgiveness). If he really is what he claims to be......then he shouldn't be going around judging people.

Indeed. It's also heavily dependant on my mood. Sometimes I'll be in an argumentative or cyncial mood and read a statement like the one that I commented on above, and do what I did today, and make fun of him and put him down.
Other days, I'll be in a relaxed and lazy mood and read it and just say "oh look, another idiot" and totally ignore it.
But by god, there are few things more satisfying then pointing out something that overly idiotic and making a stupid person look even stupider. Especially if you are in that type of mood.

But if you're an atheist and you don't believe in that heaven/hell stuff...why would take it as an insult when a Christian tells you that you're going to hell? If you know there is NO hell why would you take it as an offense? Just laugh at them for their comments....simple.thing is it is the joke about eternal damnation gets tireing . If we atheist told what we really think of religion and what they can do with it a lot of people would be highly offended so we have chosen to play "nice".
