Yes, God can tell rather or not some is for real or fake. Why do you think people can't? i'm not saying people shld go around telling everyone there wrongs & judging them, what i'm saying is that YOU will know someone by the way they act (you don't have to point your finger at them, but you will know). The Word of God, is a guideline to how a christian shld act, that is how you know.

To get real for a minute, as this might not come as a surprise I am an atheist, but out of the 10 commandments I guess I am guilty of breaking maybe two at most. the 3rd and 4th.
But but you are an atheist surly you have broken the first. Well no I didnt you shall have no other gods before me. Since I dont believe in any gods I cant have any other gods in front of the one in question either. So from the wording of the hebrew text of the commandments I dont break it.
Its been argued this wording reflects a time when jews acknowledged the existence of other gods but forbade their worship even if later judaism insists that only one god exists.

And no we can't easily tell by their actions what they believe. Only God can, if there is a God.
True, I went and spoke to a religious teacher at my school, and was quite confused for some part, but apparently sincerity is very important. One could use the Italian mafia, who are forever committing crimes, and sinning, but portray themselves as very religious, forever preying and so forth, willingly and knowing what they do, as an example. However, its not enough to just say "well, I will say sorry, and try to cover all bases", one has to mean it, God is not like a parent who is apparently blinded to our flaws who believes an apology about breaking the window with a cricket ball, one has to mean it, and from then on act well. As they say, to err is human, to forgive is divine. Apparently God recognises we will make mistakes, and is prepared to forgive if you really are sorry, if you recognise the mistake, and will avoid doing so again. After all, there is a difference to say, stealing, then saying I feel really bad and I am sorry, and then going strait out and stealing again…..
What I mean is:
- If someone does something obviously unchristian and claims to be a christian, well... they arent one.
Obviously unchristian would be:
- Something thats contradictory of what Jesus taught in the new testament.
- Breaking the ten comandments repeatedly
- Not showing love and mercy toward people, etc.
