I'm assuming you don't know all that much about the Halo series, but the scene in the beginning was John--Master Chief--and either Kelly or Linda when they were younger and training on the planet Reach to become Spartans.

Bungie, the makers of Halo, also said that the trailer would be completely CGI when they announced the trailer in the first place. (They didn't even make it, although the models were based on Bungie's in-game models.) The reason for this being they didn't want to waste time focusing on a 30 second trailer when they could be focusing on the production of the game.

And lastly, the release of 3 is still a year away. The alpha's they have of the game are all using placeholder textures and unfinished lighting (from Halo 2), so unfortunately, they probably didn't have anything polished enough to show off in a trailer.

It was just a Demo Video of things to come. just like on Halo 2 it showed him going threw a tunnel than ambushed by 7 Elites
