okay heres some facts for you...Rugby is played around the world and there is even a WORLD CUP. It is regarded around the world as a game that all men should learn to play. Hell, me and my cousin from australia both share a similarity, we both got taught Rugby at school. neither of us ever heard the word american football until i was at least old enough to find it on the net.

Goddammit, is there a world cup for American football? hell no! most countries dont want to adopt a rip-off sport that the yanks invented. You only like it because its a sport you can call 'your own'. It will never be played anywhere else in the world because its a load of crap.

I never even said I disliked rugby... I've played it. I just like football more. It's not my fault we invented a better sport and the rest of the world is too busy whining about their failure.

We all know the real reasons America came up with its own brand of football...😉

However...Baseball....i mean.....WHAT?!?!

WTF are you on? american football is a DESCENDANT of rugby! Dont Believe me? wikipedia:

History
Main article: History of American football
American football is directly descended from rugby football. The majority of the plays in a typical American football game involve handling the ball rather than kicking it.

Amen to THAT!

On the rugby vs. football thing...on that picture posting comparing the two...rugby dude looks fat. Football dude looks muscular.

Big difference.

I prefer football when I can be bothered to watch/play sports. Rugby and soccer put me to sleep.

Now go away and let us talk, please.

Bears are losing last I checked, what a surprise...

Oh yeah... and Football is better than Rugby. 👆

Haha muscular? Thats the pads. He would be a scrawny ass without it. rugby players are 100% brawn and could rip your arms out of thier sockets. (much like a wookie) lol.

And I never said they weren't related...

I'll just direct you to my previous statements from here on out... I'm too busy watching that which you hate... which even makes it better in my opinion. 😱

Don't argue with an American about American football 🙄 not unless you want to make a complete arse of yourself.

I didn't see any pads all over that guy's arms, did you? Still looked pretty muscular to me. And as Tattoo said, that guy's a middleweight.

Plus football players don't use half as much padding as you seem to think they do...

Hmmm... sure...

Because limbs never get dislocated in the NFL 🙄

With all these thinks I've provided, how can we be told that this is just an American sport? It's enjoyed the world over, with some countries that have their own teams that compete in their own championships.

Just because he had never heard of it until he was allowed on the interwebs doesn't change the fact that it's a world renowned sport full of hard hitting athletes. Don't confuse ignorance with fact, willman.

I'm kind of curious what the typical heights and weights are of rugby players.

Umm, yeah...we never disputed the fact that Rugby is played worldwide. I was proving to you that Football is played world wide as well, because the way you posted showed me you didn't understand how popular our little sport is.

Yeah... but the game of football is played while running with a ball most of the time.

Yes its so popular that it has NEVER EVER been shown on terrestrial televison in the UK. You have to get sky sports and even then its on the 7th channel down! Also, its never in ANY of the newspapers.Hardly a 'popular' sport over here....

Oh wait, should I use your own words to my advantage? 😱 I think I shall.

Yes it's so popular (rugby) that it has NEVER EVER been shown on terrestrial television in the US. You have to get ESPN and even then it's on one of the lesser channels down and never mentioned! Also, it's never in ANY of the newspapers. Hardly a 'popular' sport over here....

READ!

To us in Europe American Football is a dis-jointed affair played by big guys who need more padding than Joan Cillons, lots of make-up (those funny stripes they paint on to look hard- ooh scary!) and no real fitness level due to the constant breaks to allow TV advertising to ruin the whole game.

To us in Europe Rugby Union (and League) is played by super fit guys who need no real protection and who can get battered, clattered, punched and run constantly for 80 minutes with only a short break in the middle. The team work involved is immense and it stirs real emotion to see players protecting their team mates at all costs.

So, would an American Footbal team beat a Rugby team at Rugby? Absolutely not, never, it's just not possible.

So, would an American Football team beat a Rugby team at American Football? I'm guessing here but I would say it's not likely once the rugby players have spent 5 minutes (maybe 6🙂) reading up on the rules and making up a basic strategy.
