Can any one religion be true all by itself and no other?

I dont' belive the bible to be non-fiction, but I have quoted it before, and acknowledges its presence as the guiding compliation of Chrsitian mythology.

THe difference between me and you is that I can cite other sources. If you've ever written an intellecual paper of anysort, you know that it is not sufficient to back up your claims with information from only one source. People who only use one source exclusively are often in blatant contradiction with the rest of the worlds sources. IMO, this applies to your exclusive use of the Bible.

* you don't believe the Bible to be non-fiction yet, you consider Christianity as a "myth"... wow...

* uhm, in case you didn't know, my friend, the Bible is a compilation of several books of itself, so basically, backing up my claims from the Bible has passed your criteria of using only one source... the books from the Bible were written in different times, places and people...

Who picked those books, why didn't they chose the other books. There were hundreds of texts. Why not include them all......Know why?? For control..........Pick and chose how you want to control the people...

1. Make Jesus god.
2. Have the church speak for god.
3. Control the people in the name of god, which is really the church.

I will certainly pray for all of you when i go to bed tonite! I am chriatian and it is still hard for me to piece it all together but i urge those of you who are not christian to think about where you came from and the complexity of birth! It does not just happen folks!

Maybe some of us used to be Christian, and then did our research, and then found out the truth!! 🙂

Well, if you managed to research your way to come to the conclusion that God is not, then you should publish this "truth" you found, you'd be famous for figuring it out when all the "brains: of our society have been studying it for longer than you have been on earth.

I didn't say that some kind of intelligence didn't exist though.

* that's where you draw the line... stop mixing Christianity with Catholicism... 😛

* Gnostic writings are not included in the canon because it was spurious... other books not included, ask the Catholics... 😉

let me dumb it down.

The bible is not non-fiction.
The bibile is not factual.
The bible is fake.

Therefore Christianity is a myth.

WHERES the contradiction?

Just trying to help you trough this bud.

So the catholics aren't Christians, but they get to make the Christian Bible? Interesting...

Protestantism wasnt invented until 1517, 1517 years after Christ supposedly was born. The Roman Catholic Church was the most powerful Christian church.

* i'm not forcing anyone... Bibles are scattered all over the globe, maybe you have one, read it... i'm just posting verses... 😉

One interesting thing about the Catholics of today, they don't try to convert people. They seem to be more tolerant.

As for only the gnostic writings only getting thrown out. That is not true. There were many other writings that weren't included. Some where just more popular then others and read aloud at certain times of the year like scriptures doing with the crucifixion (Passover-Easter) and writings that lead up to that.........There really are more, but the church decided which would be in (popular and control) and which were boring and contradictory....Btw, it's still full of contradictions....

Also did you ever read, which was suggested, Dionysus and Mithra?

Eye opener..........bangin

Theists are always welcome as well to support what they are saying. This can involve empirical evidence, logical arguments, and even positive proof.

* anyways, you've read the whole Bible, yet you continue to connect the Church in the Bible with the RCC? how ignorant... just take a look at the big difference in their doctrine and you will see that the RCC is no way near the Church in the Bible... and you will see that the RCC is not a Christian church, they are just claiming to be one... 😉

You make some of the most ignorant statements on this forum. No modern Christian curch is accurately described in the Bible.

No, its hardly not enough. In fact, its barly anything. you narrowmindedly IGNORE everything else in the world and stick your your narrowminded blind opinons. THe Bible is not backed up by ANYTHING, especially science and fact.

It's so interesting how Atheists look and can question/think on things I can so not................And I like it..

Good Convo....just can't think from that perception.

You said the one true curch is stated in the bible. That implies that you're christian. Since your opinon is that catholics are not Christians, but the Christian Church is the one trur curch, that leaves Orthodox and Protestantism. Since you prefer the King Jamers version of the Bible, that leaves Protestantism. Thats fairly specific.

Stubborn, yes I am, but not as much as you. I'm not the one claiming that anything I/the bible says is blatant fact.

No. No modern Christian CHURCH,imo the dogmatic religious institution that imo screws up and misleads peoples, minds is not describe in the bible. Chrisians. the people following the faith, are. Your inability to misinterpret this does not add to your credibility.

DO you know there is a whole genre of fiction called historical fiction? THis uses real people/places/events and fills in the detail with fiction. Mythology also uses real people and events to create stories to explain things that man could not understand about the world at the time. The bible takes elements form these, adding "teachings" to create an indocrinated system of control that is so easily expoited by all thre main brnaches of Christianity. There are clear non-factual statements in the Bible, many characters weren't known to have existed/have no historical record. Some actually did exist. Most things are not backed up by history, nothing I can think of off hand can possibly be backed up by science.

Debbie I'm glad you are enjoying this. In fact my sig somewhat represents it. I like to step back and examine everything from all possible perspectives I can manage. Its about "forward" thinking. Its taking the boundry of my knowledge and feeling it out, pushing forward into the unkown with the aid of both technology and my natural human existance. Thus is the way by which man is enlightened. Hence the sig. 😄
