here is an interesting theory.
Borgin and Burkes is first seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, when Lucius Malfoy and his son Draco pay a visit. Mr. Borgin is given a list of poisons that Malfoy wishes to sell. Borgin and Burkes is later visited by Draco Malfoy in Half-Blood Prince, where he is asked how to mend a Vanishing Cabinet and to keep an item in his shop (either the second Cabinet or the opal necklace).
It is revealed that when Merope Riddle was pregnant with her son Tom Riddle (later Lord Voldemort), she went to Borgin and Burkes to sell a locket, a family heirloom that originated with Salazar Slytherin, as she was desperately in need of money. Mr. Burkes, knowing how valuable the item was, bought it for a small amount of gold, which the poor woman willingly took.
Borgin and Burkes is also revealed to be the place where Tom Riddle worked after leaving Hogwarts. Riddle was employed to seek out and purchase rare antiques, heirlooms, and obviously Dark items; his legendary charm aided him in this pursuit. His employment ended when he abruptly quit around the time that a witch was found murdered and two ancient heirlooms stolen.
As Mr. Borgin seems to currently work alone, it is possible that Mr. Burkes is already dead, possibly murdered by Voldemort himself as an act of revenge and to create one of his Horcruxes.

did anyone notice how this is the only book where jk. ends it at school. usually they go home on the train and meet the dursleys at the train station to go home for "another boring summer" or something.this time she ended it at school. it seemed a bit rough. like she had a different idia and then at the last minute chaged her mind and cut it off.
did anyone else notice this?
yeah she did leave it at school but remember that Hogwarts was closing the next day, i think she skipped out the train journey, because there was no need for it...i mean normally at the end of a train journey some action has occured or something which will make Harrys stay at the Dursleys a little less painful...theres no need..hes not gonna be there for long
It might just be me...but it seemed as though Dumbledore kind of WANTED to be killed. i know it talked about that whole pleading thing, but honestly...dumbledore wouldnt be the one to walk into a trap like that cave when he suspected malfoy was up to something. i think he knew the locket was fake. plus, how happy do you think voldemort is going to be with malfoy and snape? it was a task voldemort set MALFOY to do, and snape ended up doing it. plus, if voldemort can survive avada kedavra, dont you think "the greatest wizard in the world could" too? snape is a skilled occlumence, dumbledore as well. i think they were talking to each other too at that crucial point; deciding what to do after. i really dont think snape's gone evil, i really havent.
hypothetically speaking, didnt snape BREAK the unbreakable vow? he had to protect draco however possible, and AID him in his quest...not execute it for draco. plus, snape was supposed to keep draco out of harm, when in fact snape ASSURED draco be punished because draco let snape do what he was supposed to do. so either way, draco is getting a mouthful from the dark lord...doesnt that mean snape broke the vow then?

yeah your the only one. That would be totally stupid and Voldemort would never do that. He's been trying basically his whole life to kill Harry and now hes gonna tell Draco to kill him? no. ANd Draco couldnt kill him because of the prophecy 'EIther must die in the Hands of the other.'

i don't think it is either of them. sounds like they are more like business men, then someone working for the Dark Lord. Interesting theory nonetheless.
They wouldn't be working for Voldemort. They would be working against him, seeing as they stole a Horcrux and tried to--if not succeeded in--destroying it.
