Dooku vs. Sidious

But the dismissal of the Star Wars site was a bold move, Janus. Like I said, if that is the case, there is truly no proof to support ANYONE's choice here.

Yeah, I agree Arbiter. He'd probably face Yoda down in an honorable one on one duel. Not the smartest thing to do, mind you, but honorable. But is Dooku REALLY honorable? I mean, he is a Sith.

Calm down Janus, lol. I was just kidding.

Um, so was I.

I don't think it was honor so much as he just wanted a more level playing field. He was proving to himself he was more powerful than the jedi, as he said he was in AOTC. Dooku could have easily created a diversion and escaped Yoda without drawing his blade... but he wanted to test his mettle against his old master.

Has he ever attacked anyone by suprise? Has he ever betrayed his Padawan? And Dooku proved he can handle Yoda in a one on one duel a lot better then Sidious and any other Jedi during their time. Just cause he's a Sith doesn't mean he has no honor. He offered the Jedi to surrender when they were about to lose in the first battle of the Clone War... even though the Clones arrived.

Sorry. I just have a REALLY hard time Dooku would beat Sidious as easily as you all say he would.

Not to mention Dooku had the chance to kill Yoda when he was trying to save Obi and Ani.

Janus, I'd agree. The Dark Rendezvous book was interesting. Dooku and Yoda were really close. Or so we've been led to believe.

Never said it was easy.

You're right. But you're all making implications. Like Nai said, IF Dooku is only at a SLIGHT disadvantage in Force-powers and if he is VERY greater than Sidious in dueling, it wouldn't be a difficult fight at all, now would it?

I wouldn't say Dooku would win as easily as he did against Obi-Wan both times but more along the lines as difficult as Mace defeated Sidious.

Ummm...as much as I like Sidious and all...that didn't turn out to be as difficult as people think. Mace simply had the advantage and took it. I wish George Lucas didn't direct Episode III. He is a hell of a producer and writer. But NOT when it comes to screenplay or directing...

Peter Jackson, where art thou?

Well, I never said it would be easy, but that has nothing to do with Dooku's power and it has everything to do with how Sidious fights... and that is he's either on his ass or he's playing dirty/smart and taking the high ground with all the neat throwable objects. If Sidious and Dooku were in a decent sized room closed with no objects around, Dooku would walk out alive.

I dunno. Like I said, George screwed up with everyone. I hated it when Dooku was killed off in five minutes of the damn movie. He needed to make things clear. Grievous needed to become the badass he was meant to be...

If this were done right, we'd be able to name a clear victor. To me, I think as soon as Mace was killed and Anakin became evil. He should have had THREE tasks.

- Wipe out the Jedi Temple.

- Wipe out the Separatist Leaders.

- Battle with Count Dooku for the mantle of Sith Apprentice.

THAT would've been cool.

I agree. Dooku needed a much larger role in ROTS. But hoenstly, parts of ROTS were very... rushed. Except for the last battle, most battles were pathetically short. And the whole Kill three jedi in seconds deal was poorly handled. If he did it some super badass way, I would concede his point... but dude, you have to admit, they looked pretty inept just standing there getting stabbed, while some youngling ****s up troopers like it's his job.

What would you do different. Me, give Dooku a bigger role or bigger fight scene.

I could see it now...-air ripples ala 90s sitcom dream sequence-

-----------

Palpatine stands over the kneeling Anakin, grinning wolfishly from his charred and disturbing face - marred from the battle with Mace Windu. Anakin looked up, not betraying the fear and hesitation that plagued within him.

"To become attuned to the Dark Side, Anakin, you must first prove yourself to me. Prove that you are willing to harm - to murder - to get what you want. Prove to me that you are capable enough to execute those who oppose us." - Palpatine.

Anakin rises slowly in front of Palpatine and stands rigid, swallowing slowly before responding.

"I will do what is necessary, my m-master..."

Palpatine senses the fear and hesitancy flowing through Anakin, but smiles kindly and puts a hand on Anakin's shoulder.

"Then, my boy, you will perform three little tasks I have for you. Beginning with the first." Palpatine turns to face the shadows of the room. "Lord Tyranus."

Count Dooku emerges from the shadows, grave faced and regal as ever. His mouth quivers, showing his disgust as he sees Anakin standing close to the Chancellor. Palpatine nods to Dooku and steps back. Anakin turns to see Palpatine step away, and doesn't see Dooku raise his hand and blast Anakin in the chest with a gout of Force lightning - sending him sprawling.

"Aaah! Chancellor!" Anakin screams, barring his teeth. Palpatine glares down at him, no longer wearing the kindly expression of Anakin's beloved mentor.

"Fight boy! Prove your power! To survive, you must kill! Kill him!"

I'd not give absolutes in my interviews regarding my main characters while remaining vague as hell on other issues. I'd give characters their due, and make things apparent. Good guys would still lose, but only because of their moral limitations, not their physical skill limitations.

And I'd make more jedi battles.

Whoops. Double-postage.
