Yeah I learned that too. It's true too.
And...as my Bishop told me....sure you can have a decaf frozen coffee from Starbucks...but...what's teh point of having that when you will just have to sit there and defend yourself against people giving you funny looks cuz they know you're LDS when you're holding a cup that says Starbucks on it? It's like...if someone from church saw you going into a bar...even if you are just going to play pool and drink rootbeer or diet coke or something....what do you think they'll assume you're doing? Then you look bad.
He told me that when I called him when I was having a hard to resist temptation for some frozen coffee. I called him on his cell phone and he talked me over it. My Bishop so totally rocks my socks!
wow, rocks your socks ey? nah, jus messin there... but that is awesome you and your bishop have a good friendship like that. my branch president is pretty awesome. though i dont call him up on his cell when i have temptation to drink coffee, or something... i just think of how much better chocolate milk is than coffee... YAY FOR CHOCOLATE MILK!!!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by stuck in the past....I mean if your a christian you must be to some degree becuase we believe in a Christ that came here in the past, and tought us how to live at any time.
Yes we are stuck in the past in the way that we belive in the values that are bing antiquadated in this world. (if you call those extreamest)
At the same time no we are not because we verry much look to the future in ways of improving life quality, and advancing our knowladge to its fullest (but not letting it get in the way of following the commandments). And we look to the future and unknown day that christ will set all right in the second comming.
maybe be more sapcific and i can answer better....
Religion is a believe and I believe the events depicted in the bible (even the apokryphal due to basic logic) but I don't believe people who still think there are rules in the bible because they are still way behind on the idea of religion.
I also don't believe that Jesus came to teach mankind to live as if mankind is just some child. Jesus and God are forgiving and don't press rules on us nor punish people who don't follow their advice.
God has grown with the world and does not flood the whole world out of anger, only a lot of people still haven't caught up to the world.
Even if the past proves otherwise, God loves and accepts everyone unconditionally and nobody gets thrown into hell anymore for punishment.
OH and i don't know what you mean about cults (a cult is defined as a group of people, by the way, not a group of mindless blindly trapped sheep) spewing information, becuase with the correct deffiniton there are too many cults to count (companies, political groups, etc.) telling us to do things, and there always have been.I have nothing to do with people who think liveral or whatever it means. And I think if there is any "cult" that is trying to controll everyone it is the people involved in the liberal way of thinking, in schools telling kids that white people are evil, in collages telling kids how to think not just to think, and countless other things.
Religion is not threatening america, it is the poeple who want to take away that freedom that are.
Don't try to tell me it isn't happening either, becuase I've seen it in my own school, teachers trying to tell me I have no right to express in any way my religion during school. If i can never express it for fear of offending, i really can't have it at all can I? ðŸ˜
As for people trying to keep you from expressing your religion is probably exagurated and a teacher might have said that in response to a religiously stated fact or something.
But of course religion will never be taken away nor will the freedom of thinking/believing as this unrealistic and irrational.
Religion however should not interfere with politics though..
Riiiiight...
Yeah, my Bishop works insanely odd hours, but he's always there for whoever needs him. I think he was more willing to take the time to help me out because we were still evacuated from New Orleans at the time. We were both in Baton Rouge. I gave him a huge hug when I saw him the day before I returned to New Orleans. I hadn't seen him in weeks and I think he's probably my favorite Bishop.
Of course...I'm his special case. I basically meet with him every Sunday and we catch up my week. Although...I havent' seen him in several months. Sometimes we end up talking for several hours when I met with him. He's patient and gives really good advice. And he's a convert who married a Catholic girl (they fell in love when they were 15 and are still happily married!) and now they are both LDS and have tons of kids and he's a true testament to the power of the Gospel!
*misses her Bishop...a lot*
That's sad kella, that would stink! I hope you can see him again soon! He sounds great!
And overlord, you confuse me...... i don't really clearly understand most of what your saying, it's a little muddled... srry
but, wickedness never was happiness, and we will be held accountable for the sins we do not repent of and try to overcome. God's merciful, but he also has to be just. Or he wouldn't be God.
*is reeeeally cold* (just in case you cared, lol)

although you do mention truth, in this statement, if God did not punish those who disobeyed him, he would not be God, and also, he never would have made us leave his side if he wasnt going to punish us for disobeying him, so altough you are entitled to your opinion, and i can see your side, i think you should rethink your position, i dont mean to offend, just to inform.
Dude, my last three bishops, and my last two Branch Presidents are the coolest people i have ever met, I have gotten a new Bishop every few months lately, moving a lot does that to you. But so far my new Bishop, he is one of the last three, is really cool, he is a foot doctor, and sorta a cowboy, then the one before him was just a really big kid, and then my first Bishop out here, reminds me of one of My Branch Presidents, the first of the last 2, and my Branch Presidents, are the sames as Ramses,
Ramses, you need to come out here some time, i can set you up on a date with some cute girls, id even let you pick one from the directory

Do you honestly think that people are still punished and thrown into hell just because they perhaps have never heard of God or never got the chance to get baptised?
Either way, you informing me is just the interpretation of someone else wich you accepted as like most do. This is also what causes Christianity to fall in to parts and catogory's: because people preech their accustomed or personal view and everybody else just blindly accepting all of it as truth.
The bible leaves so much open for suggestion and finding truth yourself..
Why do people not understand or practice religion in a proper fashion..
Just try to figure it all out yourselves instead of immediately believing parents/priests/bishops presenting their view as facts.

God will never drown a whole species again just because they are so wicked. Our God is a loving and forgiving God and the reason to why he has stopped interfering with our lives is because he lets our souls learn.Do you honestly think that people are still punished and thrown into hell just because they perhaps have never heard of God or never got the chance to get baptised?

actually what i said is my own point of view that i have found from the bible, and if they have never heard of God or had the opportunity to be baptized, is a diffent case, i was referring to people who directly reject God, and his gospel, they will be punished, and the reason God will never drown everybody again for being wicked, is because he will not risk the lives of those that are righteous to kill the wicked, the wicked will be punished when there time comes, stop thinking of Biblical punishments, God has laws, and if you break a law, knowingly, and do not repent for it, you will be punished
