Cloud vs Squall

1. Cloud never was a SOLDIER nor received that measure of training.
2. SeeD "normal" human mercs can perform feats on par with SOLDIERs, thats with Sephiroth & his mother aside.

1. I wouldn't consider that complete training. That is like some sports team watching film of a team and not preparing against it physically, you know what to do but not how to do it.
2. Name something a SOLDIER can do you're sure a SeeD can not.

I'd have to say Cloud would win, not because Cloud is particularly better than Squall is, they're both freaking awesome, but because he simply has better skills that he can use. In fact, anyone from FF VII could probably destroy Squall in a fight due to one simple fact: materia.

The GF junctioning system in FF VIII is pretty cool and some of the GFs -can- deal massive damage, like Eden. However, nothing can really measure up to the overpowered strength of materia.

Two casts of Knights of the Round can kill the game's final boss because each cast deals well over 60000 damage. There also conveniently exists the W-Summon materia. If that's not enough, let's say Squall manages to somehow survive the onslaught and gets off an attack. He happens to be royally screwed if Cloud has a counter-mime materia combo. Plus, it's almost impossible for Cloud to die because of the final attack-revive combination.

So as much as I love Squall, I think Cloud would destroy him utterly and completely, SOLDIER enhancements and giant sword or not. =\

Actually, if we use Dissidia Squall this would be good to watch but Cloud with AC swords would win. Not getting into FF magic since it pretty much puts everyone on the same spell meaning, they all have the same freaking spells. They pretty much don't change from FF to FF. 😬

Measurement by damage over different FF universes doesn't work too well.

Holy is considered the strongest spell in FF7 and few other FF it can't do anything much more than average damage.
FF9 Kuja is capable of taking out a planet with his Ultima attack.
FF8 Ultimecia just created the strongest spell just from her own thoughts.
I can go on but I only played 2 others 😐

If you bring in summons, really based on what the Eden summon does thats instant death by real standards, thats another loss for Cloud.

P.S. Materia isn't overpowered it strengthened's one area & weakens another. GF Junction can reach magical invunerability.

Those swords don't change too much except the fact he can do a different limit break, I doubt Squall would toy with him to allow Cloud to duel wield.

Oh man, is the damage point ever right. WAKKA from 10 with a damn soccerball can deal 99,999 pts damage. 😬 That logic would put him above Cloud, which 50 Wakkas are not.

I think it would be a draw. Because cloud is faster and stronger. Now cloud does have a bad stanima. He cant go a long time of fighting. EX- AC.
But squall does have lionheart and if used right, does put out more damage than clouds omislash.
But squall is slower and isnt as experanced.
There both amazing chars.

Omnislash is supposed to be so fast that no eye can see it. It would appear as a blur.

Sephiroth managed to look pretty shocked when it happened to him, which implies he noticed it. 😛

We also can see the wind blowing his clothes in AC. It's clear that it's speed is exaggerated in that statement. It is no doubt quick, but not so fast no eye can see it.

It was "stated" by the creator of ACC that it HAPPENS in a blink of an eye not faster than no eye can see.

I was watching this debate (one of the reasons of why I've joined this forum). Before I start, I would like to mention that Gameplay it is NOT a way to see how a character defeats another, simply by the reason that the Final Fantasy X characters would blow everything up and that's illogical. To determine who "would" win, we have to look at facts and at each one's story-line.

To some people that says that Dissidia is canon, I must add that they are wrong, Dissidia it is NOT canon. Why? Because I could say Kingdom Hearts is canon, I could say that Ergheiz is canon which is ridiculous. Let's continue.

I think both characters are equal, but that Squall can easily put more numbers than Cloud in many aspects. I will resume my reply because I am not in the mood to write long posts now. Cloud is a genetically enhanced human (a super-human) which abilities are above from a normal human, yeah... Surely most of the fans would say that he can defeat Squall due of this, in my case, I say this is totally false and a little excuse from Cloud's fan-boys. Almost everyone forgets that Squall is enhanced by the power of the GFs which IS stated in the game itself, this could be a draw, but I don't think so. Seeing Squall's experience, training and that he is the master of the most difficult weapon (The Gunblade, also stated in the game itself) I could say he is a more experienced swordsman than a guy who was being experimented by years in a laboratory and who has been an ordinary infantry man lacking professional sword training. Sure,Cloud showed awesome feats with swords but anything near as the strict training Squall had in Balamb Garden, so... In conclusion, Squall would win a fight against Cloud. Those are some points of why I think Squall would win, if anyone disagress or have something to add, I'll be glad to see, I wanted to revive this thread by the way, I like this debate.

The difference between Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts is that Nomura has flat out stated in an interview that KH FF characters are alternate universe versions of the characters(aka non canon) and the Dissidia Ultimania and many interviews with it's creators call it canon. Dissidia is canon regardless of anyone's thoughts.

Believe me, I really wish Dissidia was canon, but I don't think so.

If Dissidia it's canon, there are a lot of unanswered questions I have.
In which part of each character's story-line they were introduced into Dissidia? Because if it's canon, there must be an logical explanation for that, canon also means continuity. Sure, you would say: "This happens after the games", then why (for example) Cloud wields the Buster Sword instead of the First Tsurugi? This means Cloud was introduced before Advent Children? Why Ultimecia, Kuja, Kefka and etc. are alive? Chaos has given them life in order to summon them? To really prove Dissidia it's canon, we must reorganize everything in every Final Fantasy game and see if this logical. For me, this doesn't make any sense because ALL of the answers for these questions will be assumptions. NOT facts.

Oh, fascistcrusader, provide us with official information, because all of what you're saying is irrelevant, can you back what you're actually saying with any proof...? Because I want Dissidia to be canon.

It is stated in Final Fantasy VIII that the Gunblade is the most difficult weapon to master. Squall is the master of the Gunblade as I can see.

you cant prove that one character's training is any more or less intense than the other's training - especially since we dont know for sure what kind of training either received, for how long, or how much effort either put into their training..

I think that a person who trained for 9-10 years in a military academy would have received strict lessons and training, a discipline. On the other hand we have a guy who has been experimented for years in a laboratory and who hadn't real experiences with swords until Zack's death. By the way, I never said intense, I said strict. We don't know how kind of training Squall has received in Balamb, but I do know for how many years. If Squall mastered the Gunblade, that means he put effort in that purpose.

Squall maybe master a gunblade which is the most difficult weapon to master. IMO the real message is "the most difficult weapon in his own universe". But Cloud too is not someone who mastered a simple weapon. His sword is made of 7 sword combined together and he knows perfectly how and when to use two swords at once just like when he fought Loz and Yazoo, and later fought Sephiroth.

I'd think a huge ass buster sword will be harder to use, and Cloud uses that at fairly the same speed as Squall with his gunblade. Squall is also outmatched in overall movement speed/jump capacity and strength. Hell reaction time as well. Yes, using canon FF visuals and not gameplay, which is one of the most broken since it's FF.
