Squall owns Cloud, based on cutscenes from FF8 and Dissida, it is clear that Squall is around or greater then Cloud in combat.

The only way Cloud could win is if Squall allowed him to use a limit break.

I don't think so, but even so he shoots it in Dissidia I believe. One of his moves is he makes magic balls around him and then shoots them to set them all off.

I beg to differ. Based off of evidence from FF7 and FF8 I'd say Cloud would be the winner. They had to crank up Squalls (and everyone elses) abilities in Dissidia to make it a fare fight for everyone. I'd sooner go with evidence outside of Dissidia.

What? Then it shouldn't be called a gun blade at all. Where did you hear that?

Well for starters there's the fact that if it could shoot projectiles you'd be a dumbass for shooting your target while you're already slashing them, but the FF VIII Ultimania confirms this.

Well the gunblade is a pretty cool weapon nonetheless. I still don't see any solid evidence that puts one over the other. Cloud has more strength and endurance due to his enhancements, but Squall seems to be the better fighter overall. I don't count any feats from AC as evidence due to the fact that Squall and co. didn't get a movie.

Squall wins in weapondry but its still a draw I think.(I'm just saying that because I like the gunblade)

Ultimania? Hell, it's explained and used in the game itself. The whole reason pressing the R1 button with Squall dealt more damage was because it was simulating pulling the trigger of the gunblade.

My point exactly, it wouldn't make sense to shoot them while you were slashing them, you would shoot them before you were that close.

What about the bullets inside the Revolver's barrel?

They're blank rounds, not bullets. They're the charge that sends the shockwave down the blade, but they don't shoot projectiles.

So you say that the Gunblade's barrel contains cartridges just with gunpowder? Hmm... Thinking about it that makes a lot of sense.

I had the Final Fantasy VIII Ultimania (the scans and stuff) But all in Japanese. Do you know if it's translated somewhere?

Augh, lame. This whole time I thought he could shoot that thing. They should call it a shock blade or something, why simulate a gun and then not have it shoot?

You shouldn't count anything in AC as an accurate representation of the characters abilities. Even the developers admitted they weren't worried about keeping things realistic when they made the movie. I don't think Dissidia is accurate either.

That being said, I'd say Cloud comes off the more powerful if we look at FF7 and FF8. Not only is he genetically enhanced, he defeat Sephiroth by himself. I don't think Squall could beat Sephiroth.
