Does EVERYTHING have an opposite?

Actually, interesting Trick said that, because I think the whole dualism thing is based on aspects of an object rather than its literal self.

Meh, its a concept. I tend to agree with the Cosmic Law rule, but some of people don't.

Well I don't think you can define me in any short term. I doubt I have any complete exact opposite.

Though I suppose since my opposite would have to not exist (the opposite of existant is nonexistant), then my opposite could simply be a conceptual dead woman. Still, you'd have to find the opposite of human, which is impossible, as we have no opposite.

The only things I think that can really have an opposite are human concepts - parts of mathematics, political philosophies, etc.

What purpose does the idea of relative opposites serve? It renders the word impotent. You speak of polar opposites, and then use that to fill in the obvious gap.

I can't see the reason behind that.

Its strange. I had an exact idea of the duality thing, but in some weird crusaide to fill in a gap of what is an opposite of piano or grape or something ridiculous like that, even my own logic wondered off somewhere...

Nothing challenging has been posted...but I have a feeling it might soon.

Errr, well, I'd have tio wimp out and say it depends on your definition of opposite.

Dualism is about objects being opposite in aspect. That being the case, you would see what aspects the piano, for example, has, and then the opposite of that would be an object weith the opposite aspects. Or maybe a different piano with opposite aspects. I dunno, I've not really got much on this area.

Not everything has an opposite, simple as that.... It is very, very, very unlikely there is someone with the exact opposite gene pool as myself, just as likely as I having a clone.... Therefor I have no opposite...

That's not true... A female isn't opposite to me, we still have things in common, we both have hair, we both have hands, etc. For someone to be opposite to me they would have to be totally different... 100% so.

North Pole is opposite of South Pole. They are still poles.

Everything has two opposing points or opposite aspects (complementarity), and that opposites are really only the two extremes of the same event, with many varying degrees between them.

To illustrate, "hot and cold," although opposites, are really the same phenomenon, the differences consisting merely of degrees of the same "event."

But the opposite of me as a person... not as me as a male. I have no opposite. Just like you have no opposite. Plus Male and Female aren't really opposites either, they're pretty much the same , except for a few hormones and shit.
