We don't know what Nihilu was doing during Malak's campaign. Most likely he either already figured out his power, was being trained by Traya, or was wandering along the outer rim. Yes, I would say Malak is more powerful than Sion, less powerful in the force than Traya, and Nihilus doesn't count. But at his time Malak was the best in an order of thousands, and him being super powered just puts Revan onto a higher plateau.

How? We have one thing to judge his prowess from, and we don't know heck about that. We don't know how the fight played out, from what we know, Revan could have taken 10 adrenalin, strenght and speed boosts before the fight, or placed mines, used stealth, or tossed grenades while Malak drained them or whatever. Maybe Revan was lying on the ground almost beaten, but saw a chair and used the force to flip it into Malak before he could finish him, then stabbed him, thus winning by luck and was actually inferior in swordsmanship. It is hard to judge with no knowledge except that the fight happened...
Revan doesn't have time to put on stims, speed boosts, adrenalin, mines, throw grenades (Malak will push it back likely), etc. We all played KOTOR, and using the pause button we can put on all those enhancing items, but in reality they would have both ignited their sbers and fought. We also know Revan defeated Malak fairly. Yes, we don't know, but we have to assume...
