horseshit. please stop pretending to agree and then backpeddling out of it.
with all your intelligence and grand vocabulary, i am shocked and disgusted by your infinite ignorance with regards to the middle class, particularly unskilled labor. you have no idea what it really means or how crucial it is. all you see is the kid dipping fries at mcdonalds over school break and that to you is the sum of unskilled labor and your justification for allowing minimum wage to remain firmly below the line of poverty. please, dont respond. you just drop it, then ill drop it, and then i wont have to be annoyed.
Wouldn't want you to get annoyed, PVS. I'll just add this. Despite your protests to the contrary, artificially raising wages beyond what the market is able to absorb or willing to pay, only hurts low wage earners in the long run. It just leads to employers cutting back on employment. It's like doing rent control in high-density, high demand living areas. You think you perform a service by artificially lowering rents, but you end up creating housing shortages. You cannot circumvent free market pricing without creating a cascade of other effects. The end result is either a less robust enconomy--which makes everyone worse off, not just the rich--, the creation of black markets, or the arbitration of supply and demand by factors other than price and the willingness of the consumer to pay, namely, bribery or illicit deal-making.
BTW, I haven't looked at the statistic in awhile, but I believe that the percentage of minimum wage jobs held in this country by pimply faced high school adolescents is relatively high--30-40%, if I'm not mistaken.
In any event, like I mentioned earlier, one of the good things that I think the governent could do to help low wage earners is to subsidize and encourage the opening of affordable trade schools. We place an undo emphasis on traditional 4 year university programs in this country that is completely bogus. Most college degrees are worth nothing in terms of real world applicability. In many cases these programs are like adult day care.

This part I have to agree with...but the crap about how raising the minimum wage would end up hurting the lower class is just horseshit, imo. It's the same sort of thing you'd here in an economics class, to justify the reason there needs to be poor people.

Where would you put them (other then lower middle class?)
However you define middle class, bottom line is that a majority of people in this group earn considerably more than minimum wage. Try telling a minimum wage earner he's part of the middle class--he might not believe you. The plight of the minimum wage earner is not synonymous with the plight of the middle class, which is largely defined by a heavy tax burden.

Despite all your research and valid facts you present one truth remains:
The Government has more than enough money to take care of this problem. Do you have any idea how much the U.S. Treasury holds ? More money than we can spend in the next ten generations bro....
This is not about whether or not the U.S.A. can take care of this issue, but about what method it chooses to take.
To stay true to Capitalism, everybody has to "earn" thier right to live a fair life..no one is guaranteed it, no one is given it. This is all about sticking true to our original form of government, not about actually solving the problem.
Sorry.... ❌

So it's the Govt's responsibility then?
By the way Capitalism isn't the form of Govt.

It is the Government's responsbility to take care of its people, ✅
Eliminating or atleast making an effort to decrease poverty is a good idea 👆

Capitalism is the form of Economy though, and since we all love money so much, it doesn't serve the interest of the Higher Class to help raise those suffering from poverty.
Bottom Line....U.S.A. has more than enough Food and Money to feed everyone in it....yet too many people lack these basic needs. What the F*CK ???

I thought we just established what group "unskilled" labor fell into and that's lower middle class, thats not impovershed.
So what are we looking for the govt to do in this instance?

Food is a basic need absolutly no matter where you live in the world it is required to survive we can always have a better system to help the needy, how much money is required to do the same thing is up for debate obviously. Hence what is the Govt supposed to contribute/do here? Also please let me know what you consider "higher" class from an income perspective so I have a better idea of what you are talking about.

That statement was also in regard to the matter of highering minimum wage. This country can very much afford it. Like I said before, this is not about what the Government can and can't do.
This is about what the more powerful people want to do.....

65 % of this nation's wealth is owned by the Top 20% of citizens, who happen to be Protestant Elite. That is who I am talking about. 🙂

Punish ? No...that's a Christian concept...I'm not Christian. ❌
But think about it...is it not evil when you have more than enough power to stop something bad from continuing and you do nothing about it ?
