Does every adult in the US swear that oath? How about people that aren't religious? That oath means nothing to them because it's sworn onto god and if you don't believe in god I don't really see the problem with betraying it...

This country is founded on rights and responsiblities. I don't see how that contradicts this.

I'm not defending a draft in any specific case, I'm defending it as a principle.

I doubt many soldiers want insecure conscripts fighting by their side. Thats why we should keep the all volunteer force as the combat force and let the now civilian poulation take over the support roles.

Because risking your life is an obligation that no human should be forced to accept. Which is why it should be their right to refuse and not by having to leave their home, but just by saying no.

Well here it was always called a draft, and I believe it is a good idea for people to be ready IN CASE of a war.
