well shit...i guess ill find out the results when i wake up
A little over an hour till the Australian evening news begins, all stations promising comprehensive coverage "of what political commentators are calling a protest vote against the Republicans."
Very exciting, I do enjoy a good election.
Well, after watching CNN almost nonstop for 6 hours (hour long breaks at 8 and 11 for House and the Midterm Midtacular, respectively), I am quite happy about the returns.
Democrats have gained the majority in the House of Representatives plus 12 or even more. In the Senate, Democrats need to get all 3 of the remaining Senate seats for majority control, and it's certainly possible.
Jim Webb is ahead Sen. George Allen by about 2300-2400 votes, with provisional and absentee ballots from Fairfax County and the DC suburbs, both 'blue' areas.
Claire McCaskill is in good shape to defeat Sen. Jim Talent, with most of the still-counting precincts in Democratic territory.
Montana isn't much of a challange. John Tester wins.

why the hell are the networks still running the "dont vote" ads? 😬
Best point I've heard all night. I was over at a friends house, and I made him change the channel everytime that came on. Beyond no longer being relevent, the song is irritating. Since it's for the AARP, I assume their advertising department couldn't read the fine print that said that 99% of their budget would go toward playing the add after America had voted.

weird goal for an organisation but sure convince people not to vote that'll help. I hope we (in Belgium) get some decent coverage of the elections. From what I heard so far the dems are looking pretty solid -but that was ofcourse to be expected-.
Democrats have taken the House of Representatives, along with the majority of Governors. The question of Senate control will likely go on for a day or two...maybe a week.
