For real. His children cried, too.

Meanwhile, what the hell is wrong with Washington? How can you have only counted 40% of the Senate voted at 11 am the next morning?

40%? Laziness?

Indeed he did. And some idiot in the crowd screamed like she'd just heard the news. She must have been reading her bible when the television announced he'd lost.

I'd also like to add that, in true neocon fashion, ever Republican senator that I saw speak last night, most of whom were defeated, said that they had to thank god before anyone else. They have about as much buisness thanking god as does a grammy winning rap artist.

Hey Republicans

No personal offense to you, Cap'n - it just happened to be your post that hinted at it last - but whose bright idea was it that all Southern Christians are white and Republican? I work in a rural town that's 60% black. I can say with confidence that most of them are in their church services on Sundays until 3 PM, with another one at 6 PM and a Tuesday and Thursday one as well. And I can say with confidence that most of them are Democrat. On the other hand, most of the white guys in this town are redneck, motorcycle perverts who wouldn't be caught dead in church. And there are 100 towns like this in the South for every one that fits the Ned Flanders bill.

(and yes, I'm aware of exceptions, so don't bother...and if you've never lived in the South, don't bother as well. I do know that Cap'n has lived in NC and he's always been legit in my book.)

The comment actually implies that Republicans are Christian rather than Christians are Republican.

Okay, fair enough, but there are millions of Democrats who feel the very same way about Christianity. a.k.a. the black community in the South. I just don't see why it's an automatic target for criticism when the black community is very supportive of it as well and in many cases over-supportive (to the point where stereotyped Republicans would draw fire) of the religion. I'm not trying to start an argument; I just think people are blind about that fact and quick to assume.

GO DUBYA!!! 👆

GOP officials: Rumsfeld stepping down

Was just about to post that. "Stepping down." Pfft.

It's gonna be interesting in this thread on Wed. of next week.

Dems loose and Republicans stay?

The polls are only representative of a small amount of voters?

100 million evangelical Christian votes not even being considered in most cases?

Values voters not buying the message that they should stay home to "punish" congress?

I'm sure you'd be saying: "Inconceivable!"

But then, you'd be in for just as much of a surprise as the little angry bald man in Princess Bride.

😛

Yeah....

Did you switch over to FOX News during the election? "Inconceivable" was certainly the look they had on their faces. Brit Hume, who already looks like a puckered ******* with a fishing hook in it, was reduced to Mumbles from Dick Tracey. Just puckered, slanted lips under worried eyes. And all that was when we switched over to FOX from CNN. There's no telling what kind of dead pan piss fest was going on when Rick Santorum lost. They must have been tearing pages out of their bibles to wipe the tears away.

Are you saying I have southern street cred?

Indeed, you are correct. There is a huge! number of christian, democratic, black people...southern baptist black people....in North Carolina. However, I'm from Winston-Salem (actually King...about 20 minutes up 40), and when I would drive past the polls on election day, I always noticed a difference in WHERE people of differeing races voted. There were always a few in line....but I noticed they were never in conversations with other voters around them. The black folk usually stayed in their neighborhoods and the whites stayed in theirs. As for my voter location, I can't recall ever seeing a black person in line. Not that I went out of my way to notice.

But in the south, I think a lot of the black people who will go out and vote are the 30 to 50 crowd, who have been a success in their endeavors. If you find a black person, at least in the area in which I grew up, that had a few bucks in the bank you could bet they were going to have an opinion and express it. And they were ALWAYS going to vote democratic. As for the black people under thirty or over fifty, they never seemed to care. More so the over 50 crowd. They never had anything political to say. And once you get too much higher in age, a lot of them didn't have any way to get out of the house and to the polls anyway. And the under thirty group just didn't think their vote made a difference anyway...

But, typically, I noticed that their feelings on social issues were not that different than those ideas held by the republican christians. Which is too bad. They always supported something that they thought would benefit them, as a discriminated class. But take steps to legitimize other groups, like latinos or gays, and they were shoulder to shoulder with conervative christians.

50/50 so far

soon it will be virginia for the win.

Bush just either lied to the Press on record or publicly admitted to lying to the Press on record for political purposes.

Paraphrasing:
Q: Why is Rumsfeld stepping down now when last week you were asked about Rumsfeld and said he would continue full term. Did it have anything to do with the election result?
A: No, I had to tell you that because I didn't want to affect the midterms and to get you to move onto the next question.

That is really funny to me! REALLY FUNNY. I expected it, but not this quickly.

Bush is saying that stay the course NEVER meant that he wasn't constantly making changes in tactics. Moments later he said that he had decided not to make changes because he thought it would make the troops uncomfortable. Wonder which one it really was? There were always tactical changes, or there weren't any to make the troops more comfortable?

Talk about Mumbles.

THIS MAN ARE PISSED!

i love how foxnews desperately clings to last nights projections with republicans leading

Out of all the things going on in this election all I really cared about was the Stem Cell research initiative that apparently did pass the election process as an Amendment to the MO constitution.

That amendment is the biggest piece of horse sh1t to ever grace our legislation in the past decade.

Bush just said:

I've been at this game for a long time

I seem to recall him saying that he was coming to Washington as an outsider in 2000

I just want to say whoever asked Bush at the press conference "Do you think you are out of touch with the american people" made my freaking day

I'm not familiar with the MO bill, with what do you specifically take issue?
