I think that your idea of a farewell would work out, thats how it should be. And I don't expect J/L to end up together. I know that a lot of issues are going to have resolutions, but new ones will come along and something is going to happen that is not going to allowed them to be together. I hope I'm wrong. But this is a good thing, they can be reunited in the 4th installment. Which so far is a go. 😄
Dude, i am a lot more optimistic/expective than that. if they are going to waste the flipping movie ending their idealistic relationship that ALREADY fell apart in 2,that will be a huge waste of time and money.
they have built an expectation of romantic closure... of liz ending up with someone. they cant just change the rules at the last minute and be like, oh in tribute to a rather shallow relationship, we are going to waste millions of dollars to close that door, instead of closing it AND opening another one that would make everything much more satisfying...
you know what..if it ends and its in fact Jack's child..and movie 4 is a prequel its a definitive statement that YES movie 4 will BE a J/E love story..and so the audience will be prepared that Jack sparrow is going to develop a LOT in movie 4..and it wont have people going "oh I don't wanna see him develop" because with a statement like that its a rather exciting ending which will attract people to movie 4 a whole lot more than if that was Will's child..and we learn that nothing exciting seems to have happened in Jack's life 10 years into the future..

IMO ..no one is really emotionally tied to the character of Will. kids don't really care about him..the majority of the audience don't.J/E has captured more of the audience will turner just never really cut it IMO(many comments like this on wordplay too, critics alike)..Jack is THE most essential character to the entire franchise..Elizabeth is obviously rather essential to it now.
Are they REALLY going to leave Jack Sparrow missing an important part of his character by the time the movie closes?? The most important and compassionate part of him?? his SOUL..?? gone forever?? or are they going to resolve that?
something was MISSING when he came out of purgatory and people will notice that as SOON as he comes out of there..seriously the second he steps on earth again I assure you it WONT go over our heads It will clearly suggest: "oh dear, what has he left behind?"

Thas pure sarcasm right there. I know one when I smell one. In other words they know what got DMC so famous and hit the billion mark. The kiss just sealed the movie with a golden button. They know by just pretending that never happened and just end it with Will/Liz and leaving Jack surrounded by infested ghonorrea whores will sure be STUPID.
They just couldnt risk to get a negative billion and fans leave the movie dissapointed with the screen covered in eggs.
