thanos cuts off his death punch to avoid the surfer taking the glove from his raised arm, cap then notices his attention shifst and loads up for the punch. it was in the same panel so it looks like all three things are simultaneous but there has to be a gap in between captain america's actions and the others since you know surfer is fast, and thanos must have acted accordingly or else the plan would have succeeded.

anyway, i'm for letting it go. juntai's quote there isn't totally cohesive with the ig affair but the sentiment is solid.

so back to superman getting lit up.... 😄

^ Agreeing that (i) is the most likely, why are you assuming Thanos must have dodged? Surfer could have, y'know, just flat-out missed. Also back on-topic:

sure he misssed, but it wasn't his fault since thanos' arm wasn't where it was before. instead of noticing thanos' head movement lines, you should have noticed the ones made by surfer's right arm swinging right over thanos and where his raised arm used to be.

what else can i say?

^ You can acknowledge that Surfer mistiming it is more likely the result of Thanos lowering his left hand for the boom rather than Thanos intentionally moving it out of the way? Appears to me Thanos had no idea Surfer was coming. Clear shot and Surfer missed.

It didn't look like Thanos saw him coming at all. Just saw him going... when he raised his head and turned it around rather than lowering it to duck down.

Consider that our perspective is looking down over his shoulder and Thanos' stature still towers over Cap... and arguing that he's hunched over is a bit tenuous.

Jesus Christ ODG... do you see the sparkle in his eye... he clearly saw hiim coming... he clearly moved his hand out of the way and watch SS fly right bye.. That is plainly obvious. What isn't obvious is if his reflexes were amped. That is an unknown.

The sparkle that illustrates he's looking straight ahead instead of to his far right (where Surfer would be) and indicates he's likely going to enjoy pimp-slapping Cap (the sadistic bastard)? Yes, I see that. His eyes sparkle a lot when he enjoys himself.

fail. You ignore the plain illustration of the comic. The sparkle wasn't directed at Captain America.. it was because he saw/sensed SS coming and moved his hand accordingly. This is as clear as day.

^ Thanos is looking down at Cap. That sparkle indicates he's looking straight ahead rather than glancing to the far right side where Surfer would be zoomig in from. When next we see, Thanos lifts his head up and around to the left from looking down at Cap when Surfer whizzes by.

Or you can admit that there's no way you could possibly tell which way his head is facing from that bottom panel. So clear as day, it is not.
