No no. Don't you guys see it? This is Morrison's writing. It's not going to be like the big events that have come before. This has a Seven Soldier's feel. It's going to be like the sum of many parts. So that when it finally all comes together, you get a better appreciation cause you can see all the pieces. And that's when you are in awe and enjoy the scale most.At least, that's how I've always felt reading Morrison's big epics.
^ Someone mark that post as my prediction for Final Crisis. 😖hifty:
Wow that was a pretty tame issue for the start of a Crisis. When something has the word crisis stamped on it, I expect something huge.
Spoiler:I'm trying to think of one thing that occurred in the issue that hasn't been given away from solits, previews, interviews etc etc.
I've never been a fan of the New God's or Martian Manhunter and both their deaths have been predicted for months.
Secret Invasion #1>>>>>>>>>>Final Crisis #1, IMO

Also did they ignore the end of Countdown or something?

It's almost like the source restarted time with the New Gods from before having never existed. And Orion is a Remnant from the Countdown who has been collected by the New Black Racer so that he can be retconned out by the source as well. I'm sure the six missing teenagers are the new forever people.
I'm sure Morrison isn't about to linger on terrible Countdown plot points. Everything New God related now is a mystery (we don't know what happened when they "died" or the fallout of the "war in heaven), treat it as such, and enjoy the story!
Personally...I hope Morrison retcons everything from Countdown. Like it never existed...that leaves a much better taste in my mouth than the actual reading.
I'd also like to point out that the design of the new Metron is absolutely phenominal. I love his head rest appears to be some kind of mystical computer of knowledge. Perfect.
