Somewhat confused that the Flashes have to go faster then light to get to Darkseid, but Batman just strolls in?
Perhaps Batman only killed the host body that was created for him to become present in the standard DC universe, and the Flashes are using the Racer to destroy the actual, conceptual Darkseid?
Or maybe the Flashes have to lure the Racer to Darkseid at the EXACT moment when Batman shoots him, in order for the death to actually stick...

I wish. Then I could get away with shouting things like "WE'RE CLOSING IN ON THE SINGULARITY! PREPARE FOR TIME DISTORTIONS!" to my friends and no one would think it was weird.
Honestly, try shouting at the top of your lungs: "DEMONS OF DARKSEID! THE TERRAIN ITSELF IS TECHNO-ACTIVE!" and see how people look at you...

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.... Batman gave Darkseid a mortal wound while within the singularity himself, but in order for Darkseid to actually die, the Black Racer has to get itself into the singularity as well- hence the Flashes leading him in by running faster than light.
So we might not be seeing the last of Bruce Wayne?
MORRISON: Not necessarily, but there's going to be quite a few twists and turns on the way.
This is important to remember- in conjunction with the fact that the Omega Sanction does not necessarily kill you. It sent Sonny Sumo back to feudal Japan, it scattered the Forever People into other lives...
The Omega Sanction has in the past knocked people into a succession of increasingly more terrible lives (Mr. Miracle, in Seven Soldiers, for instance...). And that would be a freaking AWESOME story to read: The Batman, in a progression of worse and worse worlds and lives.
