OK
Loeb sucks. Fact.
And Thor >> Ruk.
In issue 6 Thor made Rulk look like a helpless stepchild and he would have killed him way to EASILY (Rulk's own words) if not for Hulk delivering the final blows.
As for the whole cheap shot thing.
Thor threw the hammer standing in front of Rulk and after the shot the Hammer still had time to return to Thor's hand.
But anyway Thor >> Rulk

Thor made a sneak attack on Rulk, not to mention that Rulk was fighting nonstop since he took down the Watcher... he then went on to flatten Savage Hulk, and then turned around and took the wind out of Thors sails, and did it convincingly enough for anyone to see that if he had continued his assault on Thor Loeb would have been fired and then sued.
Rulk had Thor right where he wanted him and anyone could have seen that Thor would have died if Rulk pressed the point.
Thor was dominated PERIOD..... Thor then comes back swinging on a tired and unsuspecting Rulk. Please look at issue 5 again before replying.
In issue 5 Thor's first volley connected square to Rulk face, marring it with an X, and that was the extent of the damage done... Thor then became stunned that his best attack didn't really even faze Rulk, so he stood there and took a heavy beating for his vanity.
Second volley; Thor went all out scoring two power strikes that visibly stunned Rulk bringing him to his knees, and in a final last ditch effort Thor goes for the killing blow which was caught one handed by Rulk.
The reason for the play by play was to show what really happened without the fanboy bias excuses.
Thor stopped his first attack because he got spooked.... His second attack was for real and the kid gloves were off, however it just wasn't enough to take a fresh Rulk down.
Second fight (issue 6) Thor clearly hits Rulk with a sneak attack and continues to press the advantage.... I don't believe that Thor can beat Rulk fairly, as he has not proven that he can take him on an even playing field.
If I were scoring this I would give Rulk 1-0 over Thor, and i am still not convinced that Thor could win without cheating.
Rulk ftw.

Rulk ftw.
He is notorious after all for holding back a lot of his power. Which is pretty apparent after the fact that Thor was basically about to kill Rulk so much so that A-Bom had to talk him out of killing Rulk.
Secondly after the "sneak"attack Rulk had plenty of time to recover before Thor started wailing on him.
as to your later point I think issue 6 clearly demonstrates that Thor has the power to beat Rulk.

yeah Thor was holding back 🙄
that was apparent when Rulk was beating him in round 1...cuz the wise thor, when he sees an intimidating red version of a being who has given him fits, first thing he thinks is "thy must hold back thy power lest thy harm this unknown mortal"
I guess Thor was still holding back when Rulk ripped Mjolnir from him...because Thor wasn't worried...why unleash his power, Rulk only took his little hammer
and I guess Thor still held back when Rulk was humiliating him by kicking his helmet around...cuz Thor is a mind reader, and knew Rulk would not go for the killing blow
that's thor for ya...he'll hold back not only in an intial encounter, but even when his opponent had the chance to kill him...mighty thor still wisely chooses to hold back and would rather die than NOT to hold back
thankfully Rulk was more mischeivous than evil, as he ALLOWED thor to live (Thor admits this much..."Hulk...to leave me alive...has assured my wrathful vengeance"😉

Also, I love how the thor supporters are using the second encounter to demonstrate that Thor could in fact beat Rulk.
Cuz you know if it happened the other way around, lets say:
Thor was in the middle of a fight with Hulk. And out of nowhere Rulk slugs Thor straight in his mug...then proceeds to beat him and have him on the ropes.
You just know all the Thor fans would concede that Rulk beats Thor fairly and not a single one of them would complain that Rulk took a cheapshot and therefore this was not representative of a fair fight between the two.
Red Hulk shit stomps on Thor. period. end of any argument.
I can't believe the Thor love here... he got absolutely, indisputably, humiliated. he could do nothing against Red Hulk, Red Hulk palmed away Mjolnir, took Thor's best shot without it even breaking his stride... the level of humiliation Thor suffered there is absolute. it's impossible to argue that Thor represented anything approaching a 'fight' for Red Hulk.
Savage Hulk was the only one capable of even approaching Red in terms of dishing out and taking punishment (the idiotic sleeper hold notwithstanding). and in the current issue, it is Savage Hulk who is making Red Hulk expend too much energy, taking him to his limits, whereas Thor gets in a few cheap shots, before Savage returns to do what only Hulk (varient: green) can do... TKFO someone way beyond a simple "god".
