Delph's League of Champions Season One Discussion Thread

As for downloading information from battlefields/opponents to bring to future matches, shouldn't this be treated the same as equipment? If you can't steal your opponents sword (or whatever) after you win, why should you be allowed to take their information?

Also, can you use a team member for prep if that member isn't actually going to be fielded in the battle?

that sounds like a vote against a certain android . . . 😖hifty:

and i'd think all members were available in prep.

Yeah, wolf-wolf cries🙂 Anyways, the thing is undraftable "as is", and cookie to anyone who can do that in 10 minutes (I think I figured a way, though).

Not at all, there are a lot of characters who can hack systems and steal information. I'm just saying that stealing information on weaknesses or weapons is no less valuable than stealing a gun or sword from a defeated opponent.

Sword \armour is stolen "as is". If you have information, you still need to utilise it using you OWN resourses.
Data copying is a loophole, but it doesn't lay on the plate waiting for anyone to take it.

common sense? wasn't that banned in the kmc years back? 😐

Last August... 😗

i thought scoob joined WAY before last august . . . 😕

😛

It's cheap and unfair to teams you may face after you steal from Iron Man or Mr Fantastic (or whoever)

Teams should be reset to base levels after every match, same as the amalgam rule that means you have to reform amalgams every prep period.

Or if one type of theft is allowed, then all types of theft should be allowed.

that's true, but you can't really ban someone for being able to hack systems and gain info if they are otherwise well below the cap-limit. black box is a perfect example. 😬

i'd be fine with resetting knowledge each match and allowing only knowledge that can be gained on an opponent during the prep or during the match itself.

but if i know who i'm fighting, and can gain info on my opponent during my prep, that seems to me like it should be legal.

I'm not trying to ban anyone (this time) I just think that the team you field should only be made up from the resources your team had during the drafting process, not things you gain during matches.

That sounds fine, as long as you would have possible access to that info before the League begins and not purely through information theft from another team.

In regards to the current topics being discussed:

- I'm personally for information acquisition. I'm against someone just taking another characters weapon outright, but if you learned how to recreate something on your own, or you were able to find a weakness through analysis (a la Batman), and then had the resources to feasibly recreate/exploit it on your own, I see no reason to ban that, but you'd have to be able to support and substantiate the fact you could conceivably do it. Some characters are geniuses that have an affinity for reverse engineering tech they encounter (Forge for instance). I'm against limiting outright ingenuity. I believe guile and cleverness should win out. It's up for a vote, however. This process is democratic. I won't utilize my executive powers unless a situation actually necessitates it. I'd rather this process be inclusive.

- I'm opposed to power copying, but I'd allow it with the restrictions I have on it currently (only able to copy individuals and not amalgams). It's up for a vote. I like Charlotte's idea about the no copying of NPCs. Only characters participating in the tournament would be viable for power copying (if it's allowed at all). If you had an Avenger on your roster and prepped at the team headquarters you couldn't copy the powers of random Avengers members simply because they were present. Only drafted characters. That ammendment to the Power copying rule will be applied (assuming we allow power copying). Thanks Charlotte.

- I'm against banning characters simply because they can enhance their teammates. That's just part of strategic drafting, and it's the purpose behind allowing prep and amalgamation. With the salary cap you have to make decisions on what abilities you want to spend your wages on, so being creative and strategic is at a premium. I'd rather not limit that just as I don't want to limit outright ingenuity. I'd allow a character like Sage or Fabian Cortez, but, like the other rulings, it's up for a vote.

Power copying with those two amendments is really not that big of a threat.

NPCs? Non Playing Characters?

Heh, well, in this instance the P would stand for "Participating"...

Well, if you notice, the pink pig's slap only causes the yellow pig's head to turn to the right, where as the yellow pig knocks the pink pig's head backwards and causes his left eye to tun into an x, as if it had been punched, and appearing to exert more force.

I can live with that. 😛
