STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

"Two men?" Sparnik asks. "Who are these two men you speak of?"

"They are brothers. Medraud and Medraut their names. Thieves I believe...they took something I would rather have back, and them brought to justice.

I'm not absolutely sure if telling him straight about it is a good course of action at all, but I think Con would do it anyways at this time...that idiot.

Sparnik considers this.

"Before I help you, I must understand who I am dealing with," Sparnik says. "You seem... young, for a Jedi Knight. Which is what you claim to be."

"I am not a Jedi Knight. I am a Padawan...well, maybe I was a Padawan, it is not clear. At least I do not represent the order at the current time. I guess you could see me as a free agent."

He strokes his frost-white goatee, his eyes searching your face.

"So you do not bring Republic assistance?" Sparnik says. "I was afraid that was so. But then, perhaps you are not a Jedi at all. Perhaps you are some misguided youth searching to jump-start his career as a bounty hunter, hmm?"

"I can understand your worries, but this is surely not my intention. I just want to make right what I did wrong."

There is a pause as Sparnik gives it further consideration.

"I do not know how you would come about a lightsaber without being a Jedi," he says. "They are rare, especially beyond Republic space. So I will choose to believe you. However, I cannot help you."

Can I use sense or scan on him?

Scan will do. You sense that he bears you no ill will, but he is paranoid and worried... worried about his war efforts, what your arrival could mean for them. Worried about what you ask of him.

"That is a pity. Do you not know of them or are you just unable to help me in finding them? I better tell you how I even came to you, a spacer had told me that they wanted to hire him to get them on Vono'k, where they claimed, you would pay him. My hope was to find them through you."

"I cannot help you because they are a valuable resource to me," Sparnik explains. "The Twins are talented individuals and extremely adept with what they do. Hell, easily half of my supplies are retrieved thanks to them. I couldn't just sell them out. It's not my business who employs them besides me."

"Hmm, I do not need to take them in, I just need the item they took back. Maybe there is a way to come to an agreement?"

"I do not think we would continue to do business if I were to sell them out," Sparnik says. "It is not good practice to expose those who have helped you most. But... if those two were somehow made expendable by someone of greater talent taking their places... I might consider."

"I see...well, as I said...I will not have a place in the Order after this., not even sure if it was for me ever, and I can see that you want to lessen the plight of the people, maybe it is the force bringing me to you...to help us both"

Sparnik smiles.

"Perhaps it is. I hope you understand, though, that I cannot just betray those who have helped me without being sure that you are better than them."

"Of course. How do you intend to test that?"

"I believe it is no secret to you that the Grotos- the alleged anarchists- want my head on a spike. They have built a sensor array out here in these mountains, hoping to pick up signs of my forces through a constant scanning process. If you can disable the sensor array... and by disable I mean destroy completely and kill everyone inside... then I will give you the Thievery Twins."

"Kill them all?....I guess that is what a war demands. I will do it, do I have to find them or do you have intelligence on them?"

"I have information that will be of great help, as I know precisely where the relay station is. I have not yet attacked because it would require sending a strike force to destroy it. Two hundred men marching over the mountains would show up on their bio-scanners, and the direction they came from would reveal our hidden base and we would have to dedicate our manpower to moving to another one instead of fighting the Grotos. But a Jedi... I have heard that a Jedi is worth at least one hundred men. Do you think that is true?"

"I know of Jedi that fight like 200...if I can count myself as one, I dare not say. But this is a task a Jedi is suited for...and I am confident my skills will fare me well."
